The Feast at First food stand at the fair has been our number one fundraiser for 33 years. Without this project, First Lutheran could not have helped so many of the groups and organizations in our community and around the world. To make this week a success, we need a large number from our congregation to help. Please take time to consider signing up to work for a shift or two (or three). It is a great way to get to know other people from our congregation. We need a total of 30 workers in 4 different shifts per day at the fairgrounds, in addition to 6 people per day in the morning at the church kitchen. Another way to help would be by donating one or two (or more!) homemade pies. Sign-up sheets are in the church narthex, to the right when you enter the door. The church office will have some tickets available each day for the food stand volunteers to get into the fairgrounds. If everyone pulls together (and it rains only between the hours of 1:00 and 6:00 A.M.), we should have another great week! Vacation Bible School Coming Up Soon: July 24 th -28 th Now is the time to register your children for VBS! It will be for children ages 3 (by July 1, 2017) thru 6 th grade (fall of 2017). The registration cost is $10 per child, or a maximum of $20 per family. We are still in need of some adults and students (MS and older) who would be willing to help from 8:00-11:30 A.M. each morning. If you are able to assist during any or all of the mornings that week (July 24-28) we would love for you to join us! Please call or text Alana DeMoss at , or Alana at fivekidscrazy@outlook.com. Registration forms can be found on the west wall in the church narthex, and on the church website, firstlutheranmch.com, or call to register. Page 1 Lamplighter
2 Church Directory Update Anyone who has taken pictures of any events at church that could possibly be included in the new pictorial directory, please submit a copy (preferably a JPEG or GIF) to Sandy Estill, Corene Messer, Carolyn Maloney, or Lynne in the office. Also, group leaders (SWAG, GIG, choir, etc.) please submit a picture of your groups, or let Sandy know when they meet and she will try to get pictures of them. REMINDER: We do have a committee working on preliminary details, but they will be asking for assistance from volunteers to help the process go smoothly when the time draws closer. The dates to have photos taken are set for Tuesday thru Saturday, September 5 th thru the 9 th... the exact times will be set at a later date. Be watching for more information, coming soon! The July MOTM will be Lutheran World Relief, which we will be collecting for on July As always, thank you for your continued support! Sandy Estill, Stewardship Chair THANK YOU to everyone for the visits, prayers, thoughts and kindness for Leonard Wiedenman over the past several years at the Meadows, and especially the last months at the GNH. All your Christian help made his life more enjoyable, and he talked a lot about the church and the people spending time with him or seeing him out in the public and greeting him. Also, a special thanks to all who helped the day of his service to make it feel like a family. It was a sad day, but a day made as a great memory with all of your help. - The Wiedenman family Reminder About Updating Your Contact Information: If your mailing address or phone number changes, please notify Lynne in the church office at This includes if you will be gone for an extended period of time and need to have your Lamplighter, etc. sent to a different address or held until you return. In addition, if you misplace your Lamplighter, you may view it, as well as the weekly announcements, on the First Lutheran website: firstlutheranmch.com
