2 F P C, W, V S, S 14, :30 & 11:00 A.M. Please join in reading those parts of the service printed in bold. When this symbol ( ) precedes an element of the service, please rise in body or spirit. A Thought Upon Entering: The Kingdom of God is not about me but about transforming the world and everything in it. Christians tend to put themselves and their entry to Heaven at the center of their faith, while neglecting to consider the significance of their faith for the world around them. Christians have become consumers of religious goods and services who view the church as something that exists to fulfill their needs and house their soul until they went to Heaven. The Kingdom of God is about God s Kingdom being done on Earth. It s not a plan of upward mobility and how we get to Heaven but about how God s Kingdom comes down to Earth it s a downward movement. Christians have a part to play in the Kingdom of God coming on Earth by being Jesus arms, hands, feet, and smile in the world. While the average churchgoer spends only around two percent of their lives in church, the church has spent most of its energy trying to make the two percent more enjoyable. The church (ought) to think beyond the two percent and realize that the Kingdom embraces every part of life. - Brian McLaren T C G P G W A M D M D P : Didn t My Lord Deliver Daniel? arr. Gruselle I : Nobody Knows the Trouble I ve Seen arr. Harvey Kevin Matheson, violin & Bryan Matheson, viola C W Sisters and brothers in Christ, let us present ourselves to the Lord. This is our spiritual worship. We are many members with many different gifts. But in Christ we are one body. T I G P

3 H 272: God of the Sparrow R P C God our redeemer, we confess that we remain captivated by sin. You move heaven and earth to save us, but we remain largely unmoved by the suffering of others. You are willing to forgive again and again, but we are so often unwilling to forgive the debts of others. Forgive us. Free us. Let us be no longer bound by sin, but released, restored, set free to worship and serve you in freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. S C A P C R : Hymn 304, v. 1 Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so; Li le ones to him belong; They are weak but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. Ushers will collect prayer requests during the first hymn. Blue prayer cards are located in pews. Live in the light; shine with the joy and the love of the Lord! We are called to be light for the Kingdom; to live in the freedom of the city of God. We are called to act with justice. We are called to live tenderly. We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God. S R : Ma hew 28:16-20 New Testament, p. 34 S : So,Why the Church? The Rev. Dr. Richard W. Reifsnyder Wee One s Worship (W.O.W) Parents are welcome to escort children ages 3 through kindergarten to the W.O.W room (108) for the remainder of the worship hour. 4 A Covenant Prayer I am no longer my own but Thine. Put me to what Thou wilt, rank me with whom Thou wilt. Put me doing, put me to suffering, I am no longer my own but thine. Let me be employed for Thee or laid aside for Thee. Let me be exalted for Thee, or brought low for Thee. Let me be full let me be empty, let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to Thy pleasure and disposal, And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Thou art mine, I am Thine. So be it. The covenant made on earth, let it be ratified in Heaven. Amen! The Doxology is Hymn 592 in the Hymnal. The group meets monthly. Feel free to come when you can. Copies of the book are on the Faith Stretchers shelf in the library. THE SYCAMORE CLASS plans to study C. S. Lewis next year. We have selected seven of his many books. The seven books we have selected are in a single volume The Complete C. S. Lewis Signature Classics which is about $20 on Amazon.
