Go Green! The Green Team is collecting yarn for a group of ladies that are knitting or crocheting hats, gloves and possibly blankets for those in need. If you have skeins of yarn around the house and are looking for someplace to donate it, bring it to the Narthex and look for the yarn collection box on, or near, the Green Team collection cart. As a reminder, we are also collecting DVD s and LP s. There are many exercises to help you grieve the loss of your unborn child and to receive and accept God s forgiveness. The retreat concludes with a Memorial Service. The weekend will help your soul find a voice, and transform the pain of the past into love and hope. Post abortive women and men are encouraged to attend. Page 3 Domestic Violence Awareness Month Ending Domestic Violence Starts in the Home This is where we teach our children what relationships look like every day. Remember, when you teach your child how to be a part of a healthy relationship, you are teaching him or her both not to be a victim and not to be an abuser. Model a healthy relationship. It is impossible to teach children how to prevent domestic violence in their own future homes unless you can model that type of relationship for them. Teach your children about respect and consent. Teach your children that healthy relationships do not involve pressure, force, or coercion, and that if someone loves them, they will never try to make them do something they are not comfortable with. Help your children develop a healthy level of self-esteem. You can help your children develop self-esteem by bonding with them when they are young, spending quality time together, praising their achievements and encouraging their talents, and telling them frequently that they are loved and valued. Teach your children about the importance of equality. A relationship that is unbalanced, where one partner has more power than the other partner, is more likely to become abusive. Using either the All Souls envelope included in your regular envelope mailing, or one of the envelopes provided in the Narthex, you may write the names of the people you especially wish to have remembered. These names will be included on a Our Beloved Dead poster during the month of November (updated weekly), and then in the parish bulletin. The names of those buried from Christ the Servant this past year will be read during the All Souls liturgy. All will have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of deceased loved ones at the end of the mass. All are invited to bring a photo of your deceased loved one to place on a table near the altar during the All Souls Mass.

When properly prescribed for serious illness, patients can have pain medications safe and effective without risk to life, and generally they stay alert as well. While pain medications may have side-effects, doctor and patient must assess the good they intend, and proceed only if the good outweighs unintended adverse effects. The key is that no one INTENDS bad effects. Assisted suicide is never morally permissible. Palliative care also addresses symptoms beyond physical pain, namely psychological, emotional, and spiritual problems. St. John Paul II called palliative care the way of love and true mercy. A Baptism Preparation Class must be attended if you are planning your first child s baptism or if three years have passed since your last child was baptized. MARRIAGE Marriage arrangements must be made at least six months in advance by contacting the Parish Office to set the date and reserve the church.
