Waterleaf BABY BOTTLES FOR LIFE If you forgot to return your baby bottle this week, please bring it next week to benefit Waterleaf, helping mothers in crisis pregnancies. This fundraiser is a great way for each member of the family to help in building a Culture of Life. Thank you for your response to the call of the Gospel to serve those in great need! School and Tutors on Wheels is a suburban organization supporting immigrants with English literacy education and citizenship assistance. Over 300 volunteer tutors currently provide one-onone tutoring to 650 English-language learners. A June 28 th benefit -- A Celebration of Cultural Unity -- will be held at The Community House in Hinsdale to fund the work of School and Tutors on Wheels. Cocktails and an international buffet dinner will be served. Diversity Consultant Dr. Robert Rodriquez will speak. Tickets at $100 are available online at: Founded in 1993, School and Tutors on Wheels, a 501(c)3, is a sponsored ministry of the Congregation of St. Joseph of LaGrange Park. The Religious Education program ministers to approximately 500 students. We are seeking someone who will continue to support a solid faith formation program for the children of our parish and their families. Should possess a high level of initiative, solid judgment, a strong pastoral approach, and excellent organizational skills. Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Pastor and staff. The ability to interact positively with children, teens, parents, volunteers, and parish leadership is important to the position. Must possess a BA degree or certificate in Religious Education, Theology, Pastoral Studies, or related field and minimum of two years experience in a leadership capacity with students in a parish faith formation program. 3 Pentecost Page 3 SEND OUT YOUR SPIRIT Last week we heard that, following the Ascension, the disciples, Mary, and other followers of the Lord retreated to the upper room in prayer. This week we hear that, while praying in that room, the Holy Spirit comes upon them. Jesus post- Resurrection promise, recounted in today s Gospel, is fulfilled: the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus followers. Saint Paul tells us that all of us, in some way, are given gifts of the Holy Spirit, gifts that can be used to spread the Good News. Today is one of the Church s greatest festivals. Let us carry the refrain of the responsorial psalm with us throughout the coming week: Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth! (Psalm 104:30). Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Please make sure Service Project Reports are turned in. Confirmation Letter to the Pastor is due June 4th. Feed My Starving Children service project is scheduled for Saturday, August 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at their facilities in Aurora. Now that our classes are over for the school year it's time to start thinking about next year. I asked the RF students in grades 1-5 to write to the children who will be entering their grade next year. I'll be sharing some of these here in the bulletin this summer hoping to: get some adults interested in sharing and growing their own faith as catechists; and show everyone that learning about "church stuff" can be FUN! Sara in 3rd grade wrote: My favorite part of 3rd grade was: all the cool crafts we did I learned: about Jesus Christ, God and Mary More next week... CLOW Shepherds needed Our last Children's Liturgy of the Word for the school year this week, Pentecost Sunday June 4th! Unlike generations before, growing up with changing technologies, we ve had to be creative, out -of-the-box thinkers, problem solvers, and adapt quickly not only to technology, but to the changing culture as well. And unlike previous generations, we couldn t simply be Catholic just because our parents were Catholic. Due to our culture, our incessant media, and our friends from different faiths, we were forced to question the religion of our parents. We had to learn the questions and find the answers. The passion of young adults means that we re wanting to invest in the Church; we want to help shape the Church. We have a vision believing the Church can always be better. In addition, we come with action steps and practical ideas to get us there. Some of the things we suggest may seem trivial to a 2,000 year old church, such as web-page and app development, graphic design, and social media marketing. BAPTISM OF INFANTS Baptisms are usually celebrated on the first and third Sundays of each month (except during Lent) at 11:30 AM. A Baptism Preparation Class must be attended if you are planning your first child s baptism or if three years have passed since your last child was baptized. Call the Parish Office to register and to check whether adjustments have been made to the schedule. MARRIAGE Marriage arrangements must be made at least six months in advance by contacting the Parish Office to set the date and reserve the church.
