2 Page 2 October 2, 2016 Pope Francis Tweet for the Week God never tires of offering His forgiveness each time we ask for it. Most people take things like underwear for granted. At Catholic Charities, we have found that low-income families and seniors living on poverty-level incomes do not spend money on underwear and they desperately need it. Catholic Charities is proud to announce that the 14th Annual Undy Sunday will be held on October 16, We are asking parishes to collect underwear on that date and schools to collect items the week of October 10 th 14 th. Last year, nearly 50 parishes, schools and organizations participated in the program. They collected thousands of pairs of underwear and socks which were distributed to low-income children, families and seniors through our various locations throughout the Diocese of Joliet. This year we are hoping for even more participation! Christ the Servant Parish has been asked to bring donations of Men s and boys boxers all sizes. Size #2 and #3 diapers; and all sizes of Depends (adult diapers) for men and women. A container for your donations is in the narthex. Closer to home, we are also asking for donations of ALL sizes diapers newborn through adult and feminine hygiene products to take to the West Suburban Community Food Pantry. These much needed items are not covered by the government food assistance program. Please bring your donations to the church narthex during the month of October CATHOLIC MINISTRIES ANNUAL APPEAL Pledge Report (as of 9/23/16) It is very important that these pledges be paid so that our parish will reach our goal. 3 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 St. Vincent de Paul Clothing Drive Here at Christ the Servant, October 8th and 9th We will be having our fall St. Vincent de Paul clothing drive in two weeks. We will accept the normal items: Clothing and shoes small, working appliances small electronics books and toys We are not able to accept large items, baby equipment, paint, chemicals, grease, oils, or TVs. For larger items, please call to arrange home pickup. We need a chairperson (or a team)!!! Many thanks to Marybeth N for her years of organizing the Clothing Drives. Now that the time has come for her to fulfill other responsibilities, we need an organizer. The chairperson 1) coordinates dates of the drives with St. Vincent de Paul and the parish calendar, 2) opens the back of the truck during times that items are being accepted, 3) recruits volunteers to help (bulletin articles, word of mouth, contacting former volunteers to see if they wish to help this time), and 4) makes sure that there is someone with the truck the entire time it is unlocked. There are written helps provided by the St. Vincent de Paul people as well. We also need helpers, 3-4 people to help out before and after each mass to accept the donations as they come in, and provide receipts. To volunteer, either as chairperson or a helper, please call Corinne in the parish office at , or ctsoffice@ctswoodridge.org Online Directory & Mobile App Online Directory Coming Soon! Need to contact a member of the parish, but you don t have your Guide Book & Directory with you? It is a safe, secure directory that can only be accessed by our congregation through our website or mobile app. This product is in addition to our printed Guide Book & Directory. If you associate yourself with Christ the Servant by attending services or participating in any of our ongoing ministries, we need you in our directory. However, should you choose to not want to be a part of the Online Directory or printed Guide Book & Directory, please contact our office, so we can remove you before uploading the information. ( or ctsoffice@ctswoodridge.org) If you have a company that is interested in advertising in this new product and the printed Guide Book & Directory please contact the office. It is through the support of advertisers in our community that these services continue to be provided to us at no cost.
