Respect for All Life Page 5 Nov. 25 Awesome St. John Paul II Quotes Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought. The future starts today, not tomorrow. It is the duty of every man to uphold the dignity of every woman. The worst prison would be like a closed heart. This is not time to be ashamed of the Gospel. It s the time to preach it from the rooftops. It s Jesus you seek when you dream of happiness. Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people, and hallelujah is our song. Love between man and woman cannot be built without sacrifices and self-denial. There is no cross to bear that Christ has not already borne for us, and does not now bear with us. If God asks much of you, it is because He knows you can give much. ~ by Lindsey Kettner, Relevant Radio Submitted by Dave A TO ALL GENEROUS DONORS OF CARDS, 2019 CALENDARS, PADS OF PAPER, PENS AND PENCILS CTS S GREEN TEAM, Divine Savior s Legion of Mary and St. Isaac Jogues Rosary Markers have donated cards, (Christmas, birthday, get-well, blank, etc.) to be recycled. These donated, signed Christmas Cards will be given to the incarcerated in Illinois during the Christmas Season. Also, thanks to your donations, 60 plus unsigned cards will be given to the incarcerated for their selection to send to their families and friends. Through your generosity, you have donated hundreds of unsigned, miscellaneous greeting cards which are now available for the prisoners to select for birthdays, get-well, etc. for family members and friends Calendars and pads of paper have also been donated for the prison ministry, Journeying Together. Being a disciple means being constantly ready to bring the love of Jesus to others, and this can happen unexpectedly and in any place. Pope Francis Through your generous donations, your caring and love can be brought to the Illinois incarcerated. Thank you!

They are essential parts of the spiritual life. Spiritual meditation is to contemplate the word of Jesus, and the entire Word of God throughout the Bible, and to discern what God wants of us. Meditation is not mere Bible study; rather, it s like getting a text message or from the Scriptures a personal message for us. Contemplation is like hanging out with Jesus, the 3 persons of the Trinity, the Blessed Mother, and the Saints. This kind of devotion is crucial in becoming holy. The beautiful things about meditation and contemplation is that, yes, we speak to the Lord, but more importantly, we hear Him, and listen to Him. Therefore, the tremendous importance of being familiar with the Gospels, and prayerfully reading the Gospels, is not a matter of getting through it; it s a matter of digesting all the words of Our Lord. ~ the words of Fr. Peter Armenion, guest of The Inner Life, on Relevant Radio Talk Radio for Catholic Life Submitted by Dave A Sacramental Information RITES OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Adults interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith, the celebration of Baptism, Eucharist and/or Confirmation are invited to contact the parish office. 8 Page 8 December 2, 2018 There is way too much violence in our world. The senseless attacks on people in churches and schools terrifies many. Shortly after the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue on November 5, Christ the Servant s Peace & Social Justice sent the following letter to the Tree of Life Congregation: November 5, 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue 5898 Wilkins Avenue Pittsburgh, PA Dear Members of Tree of Life Synagogue, The Catholic Community of Christ the Servant Church in Woodridge, IL, stands with you in the shock, horror and grief following the senseless shooting that occurred in your place of worship on October 27. When one person is attacked by hateful words and actions, we are all attacked and diminished. May the God of us all be with you in your sorrow. Peace and Blessings, Karen J Coordinator of the Peace and Social Justice Committee of Christ the Servant Church PRAYER FOR THE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE Loving God, you are the author and sustainer of our lives. You know the anguish of the sorrowful, you are attentive to the prayers of the brokenhearted. Hear your people who cry out to you in their need; strengthen their home in your lasting goodness. We pray today for those who have died because of violence, of terrorism. Draw them to yourself; let your face shine upon them. May they be greeted with choirs of angels and experience your eternal peace and joy. Be near to all those who have been touched by violence: those who have been hurt, lost their loved ones or lost their sense of security. Be for them a steady comfort and safe resting place. Soften the hearts and steady the minds of those who would do violence to others. May hate be replaced with love, violence with peace, and darkness with your light. Amen. accessed 11/26/18 from
