Today s privacy laws do not permit hospitals to contact churches when a patient needs a pastoral visit. We are made aware of it only when the individual or their friends and family contact us. We are also not always aware of parishioners that are homebound and would desire a pastoral visit. 3 Recent news regarding the Sexual Abuse Crisis in the Catholic Church: Bishop Robert Barron, Founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, shares his thoughts on the McCarrick abuse crisis, the Pennsylvania grand jury report, and the recent report from Archbishop Viganò. Father Jeremy strongly recommends you take a look at the link on our website: St Francis Family Groups will be having their September meeting on Sunday, September 9 th after 8:30 Mass. There will be a potluck and quick meeting. We welcome all members. We will be discussing the Brisket Dinner and having a quick meeting. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, September 30 th for St Francis Family, Fun and Fellowship. We will be having a Smoked Brisket Dinner with all the fixings after 10:30 Mass (Please note Mass time change ). Pro-Life Presentation Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) will offer a brief pro-life presentation on Monday, September 10 at 7 pm at St. Francis Church in Benson. You will learn about how to help pregnant women in need, Minnesota abortion statistics, efforts to overturn our law against assisted suicide, and more. The Benson Area Memory Loss Network is planning an evening education session by Theresa Klein, an Occupational Therapy Dementia Consultant. The event will be Monday, September 17th at McKinney s, in the meeting rooms. She will be presenting two different sessions : from 4:30-6 pm she will discuss Dementia Basics, what it is, disease progression and what to expect, and from 6:15-7:45 pm she will talk about the Importance of meaningful Activity,. This includes daily living tips on how to continue living a content and fulfilling life for those with memory loss and their caregivers. Event is free and a free light supper will be served (free will donation). We can hire tutors to work in our building to provide extra reading practice for students next year. Tutors will work with students in Kindergarten through third grade. If you are interested in being part of a great team and providing an important service to children, become a Minnesota Reading Corps tutor. Most hours are completed during the school day.
