PICNIC/SOFTBALL GAME SUNDAY, JULY 29 TH, at SACRED HEART CHURCH There will be a complimentary picnic for all members of St. Isidore the Farmer Area Faith Community on Sunday, July 29, after 10:30 am Mass, in the church parlors. Everyone is encouraged to come, socialize and enjoy. After the meal, there will be a fun-for-all softball game at the school softball field this is for everyone ages come and just play! Catholic United Financial will serve brat/hotdogs, beans, chips, and beverage. Feel free to bring your favorite picnic dish to share. APPLICATIONS FOR A HABITAT HOME NOW BEING ACCEPTED Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota has extended the application deadline to submit applications for a 5 bedroom, 2 bath home in Appleton. Persons interested in the Habitat s Homeownership Program can apply through July 31 st. Kathy Tweten, Swift County Master Gardener, will give a presentation on pollinators at 3:30. Polly and the KMS BPA will have the coffee ready by 2:30. Check out the vendors with produce, baked goods, canned goods, fresh flowers and crafts. You never know what you'll find at the market. See you there! APPLETON ~ SUMMER CONCERT SERIES ~ RED BULL Band 34 th Division, Tuesday, July 31 st, 7:00 pm at Appleton Riverview Park. The Red Bull Band is a Minnesota Army National Guard Band from Rosemount. A COMMUNITY POTLUCK PICNIC will be held before the concert. Community members are asked to please bring hotdishes, salads and desserts by 5:00 pm to the shelter in the park. The Potluck Picnic will begin with serving the band members at 5:30 pm followed by serving the public after the band. The Summer Concert Series is supported by the Appleton Community Foundation, The Martinson Foundation, and business partners. Please remember to bring your lawn chair. Join us for an Open House Bridal Shower in honor of Chelsea Laabs, bride-to-be of Jordan Hanson, on Wednesday, August 1 st from 5:30 7:00 pm at St. John s Catholic Church Social Hall. This meeting is for ALL captains and co-captains of St Francis Family Groups, and everyone who is interested, is welcome to come. Join us for a Bridal Shower honoring Laura Wentzel, daughter of Todd and Shari Wentzel on Saturday August 11 th at the Sacred Heart Church in Murdock at 10:00 am. Laura and fiancé Grady Ruble are registered at Target and Menards. August 14, 2018 for a Day of Recollection as Fariba Roughhead presents on "From Islam to Catholicism." The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. This day long retreat will consist of two conferences and Mass as well as built in time for Adoration and an opportunity for Confession. Also, please save plastic containers for leftovers and drop them at Church at your convenience. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Anna Mae Goulet is stepping down as funeral dinner chairperson for St. Francis. Please thank her for her many years of service in this ministry. Our parish will need someone as soon as possible to step into this position. It could be one person or a group of 2 or 3. Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this position. PACK A BOX OF JOY for needy children. This might be their only Christmas gift, while some have never received a gift. Last year St. Isidore the Farmer AFC was very generous and this project was so successful, sending 122 boxes. You are invited to participate in the Box of Joy Christmas project to share the joy of Christmas with needy children in Haiti and Central America. Plan ahead to fill your box(es) with school supplies, small toys, bar soap, hygiene items (no liquids), etc. A complete list will be published in September. Boxes will be available by October 1 and will need to be submitted by October 28. This is a CrossCatholic Outreach project sponsored by Sacred Heart Catholic United Financial Council #362. We can hire tutors to work in our building to provide extra reading practice for students next year. Tutors will work with students in Kindergarten through third grade. If you are interested in being part of a great team and providing an important service to children, become a Minnesota Reading Corps tutor. Most hours are completed during the school day. LeVoir has granted a partial indulgence for all Catholics who visit the Schoenstatt Jubilee Family Shrine in Sleepy Eye, MN. The shrine is located at County Road 27, Sleepy Eye. In addition to the shrine visit, one must have sacramentally confessed one s sins, have received the Holy Eucharist, and have prayed for the intentions of Pope Francis.
