Magkakasama sina Simon Pedro, Tomas na tinaguriang Kambal, Natanael na taga-cana, Galilea, ang mga anak ni Zebedeo, at dalawa pang alagad. Sinabi sa kanila ni Simon Pedro, Mangingisda ako. Sasama kami, wika nila. Umalis sila at lumulan sa bangka, subalit walang nahuli nang gabing iyon. Nang magbubukang-liwayway na, tumayo si Hesus sa pampang, subalit hindi siya nakilala ng mga alagad. Sinabi niya, Mga anak, mayroon ba kayong huli? Wala po, tugon nila. Ihulog ninyo ang lambat sa gawing kanan ng bangka at makahuhuli kayo, sabi ni Hesus. Inihulog nga nila ang lambat at hindi nila ito mahila sa dami ng huli. Sinabi kay Pedro ng alagad na minamahal ni Hesus, Ang Panginoon iyon! Nang marinig ito ni Simon Pedro, siya y nagsuot ng damit sapagkat hubad siya at tumalon sa tubig. Ang kasama niyang mga alagad ay sumapit sa pampang, sakay ng munting bangka, hila-hila ang lambat na puno ng isda. Hindi sila gaanong kalayuan sa pampang mga siyamnapung metro lamang. Pag-ahon nila sa pampang ay nakakita sila roon ng mga baga na may isdang nakaihaw, at ilang tinapay. Magdala kayo rito ng ilang isdang nahuli ninyo, sabi ni Hesus. Kaya t sumampa sa bangka si Simon Pedro at hinila sa pampang ang lambat na puno ng malalaking isda sandaan at limampu t tatlong lahat. Hindi napunit ang lambat, kahit ganoon karami ang isda. Halikayo at mag-almusal tayo, sabi ni

2 Hesus. Isa man sa mga alagad ay walang nangahas magtanong sa kanya kung sino siya, sapagkat alam nila na siya ang Panginoon. Lumapit si Hesus, kinuha ang tinapay at ibinigay sa kanila, gayon din ang isda. Ito ang ikatlong pagpapakita ni Hesus sa mga alagad pagkatapos na siya y muling mabuhay. Pagkakain nila, tinanong ni Hesus si Simon Pedro, Simon, anak ni Juan, iniibig mo ba ako nang higit kaysa mga ito? Opo, Panginoon, nalalaman ninyong iniibig ko kayo, tugon niya. Sinabi sa kanya ni Hesus, Pakanin mo ang aking mga batang tupa. Muli siyang tinanong ni Hesus, Simon, anak ni Juan, iniibig mo ba ako? Sumagot si Pedro, Opo, Panginoon, nalalaman ninyong iniibig ko kayo. Ani Hesus, Pangalagaan mo ang aking mga tupa. Pangatlong ulit na tinanong siya ni Hesus, Simon, anak ni Juan, iniibig mo ba ako? Nalungkot si Pedro, sapagkat makaitlo siyang tinanong: Iniibig mo ba ako? At sumagot siya, Panginoon, nalalaman po ninyo ang lahat ng bagay; nalalaman ninyong iniibig ko kayo. Sinabi sa kanya ni Hesus, Pakanin mo ang aking mga tupa. Tandaan mo: noong kabataan mo pa, ikaw ang nagbibihis sa iyong sarili at lumalakad ka kung saan mo ibig. Ngunit pagtanda mo, iuunat mo ang iyong mga kamay at iba ang magbibihis sa iyo at dadalhin ka kung saan hindi mo ibig. Sinabi niya ito upang ipakilala kung paano mamamatay si Pedro at sa gayo y mapararangalan niya ang Diyos. Pagkatapos, sinabi sa kanya ni Hesus, Sumunod ka sa akin! REFLECTION By: Fr. Herbert Camacho 3 RD SUNDAY OF EASTER Acts 5:27-32, Rev. 5:11-14 Jn 21:1-19 THEME: THE MYSTERY OF EASTER IS TO EXPERIENCE THE RISEN LORD The background of the First Reading tells that after the death of the Master, the Apostles have organized themselves, in following The Way. It was a dangerous sect/group because it goes against the Spiritual Leaders of

3 Israel. They have been reminded and arrested not to preach in the name of Jesus, but as far as Peter is concerned, Obedience to God comes before obedience to people. We have seen a different Peter, a changed man. Wala ng makakapigil sa kanya sa pagpapahayag ng mabuting balita -- si Hesukristo. He was transformed. He was not the same Peter we used to know. This is the manifestation of the Easter grace of the Resurrection of the Lord - - anyone who encounters the Risen Lord is turned into Apostle, true prophet of Jesus, true missionary for Christ. People who used to be coward, self-centered, main concern is to preserved one s life, now after encountering the person of Jesus, able to declare before authority, It is better for us to obey God than human beings. After being released, Peter and the apostles rejoiced, that they were found worthy to suffer on account of the name of Jesus Christ. This is fruit of Easter, Transformation, new life not only to Jesus, but also to disciples, making them courageous missionaries, and are able to rejoice, even they have to suffer, even in the face of suffering out of love, they will bear anything for Him. Peter has a new life, changed and transformed. In the Second Reading, John in his vision saw angels, saints and multitude, rendering to God honor, glory and praise. Then he joins in praising God who was slain, and put to death, and now who sits victorious at the right hand of the Father.

4 Another manifestation of Easter experience is that we are called to worship. The attitude of people who recognized the risen Lord is to be transformed into true worshiper of Jesus, the victor over sin and death. The worship of false gods is a lack of Easter experience. No one who has encountered the risen Lord will remain worshipping false gods. Part of our Easter spirituality is to see the true face of God. And after seeing Him, we will render our worship to Him alone. Having been transformed by the encounter to the true God, them we have to denounce false Gods. Our world is destroyed because we have been worshiping false gods. To experience the power of Easter is to restore the true worship to the true God who is the Risen one. The Gospel talks about the missionary work and worship of the true God. Peter went fishing, but caught nothing. The risen Lord appeared yet was not recognized. Then Jesus said, Lower the nets. Peter obeyed the words of Jesus, the there was a miraculous catch. It is then that they recognized Jesus and said, It is the Lord! Peter put on his clothes, jumped into the water as a sign of reverence and worship. If you know that you are in the presence of the lord, you

5 recognize your nakedness and unworthiness, and the next thing you will do is to jump into hiding. Not because you detest the presence but you know you are before the holy one, then you will render humble worship and adoration. It is the lord! -- I am before my lord, and before Him I bow, in homage. I give him what He deserves. Then Jesus asks Peter three times. The triple questioning corresponds to the three times Peter denied Jesus. The question is pointed to Peter who disassociated, cursed, and denied Jesus. It was a kind of cutting off the relationship. Now, Jesus asks Peter -- Do you love me more than these? Are you willing to restore our relationship? Or will you keep denying me? Are we friends? Friendship is defined by John, as willing to die for the beloved. Three times Peter proclaimed his humble love, Lord You know me, more than I know myself. It s like saying - You know what I am capable of doing. Peter s proclamation even before he went to public proclamation of love to Jesus (first reading), his confession of love denotes that love has a corresponding mission. It is rooted in love. As we proclaim our love to Jesus, it must lead us to mission.

6 MGA BALITANG SIMBAHAN APRIL 2, 2016 PEACE COVENANT SIGNING The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) - San Juan Chapter, led by its Coordinator, Sis. Tes Santiago, organized a Peace Covenant Signing of the candidates running for public office in San Juan City. This effort is also made possible through the partnership with COMELEC, PNP, and DepEd. The Peace Covenant Signing had a good attendance with almost all candidates present (only 7 were absent). The program which ran for about an hour, started with an opening prayer led by our Parochial Vicar and PPCRV Priest Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Herbert Camacho, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Rev. Msgr. Nestor Cerbo gave the welcome address. Among those who gave their messages where Atty. Temie Lambino, COMELEC Regional Director for NCR, and Gen. Elmer Jamias, Police Chief Superintendent and EPD District Director. Atty. Felton Sadang, Election Officer IV of San Juan City led the reading of the Peace Covenant among the candidates. After which, each candidate present were called to affix their signatures on the Peace Covenant document and board. The program ended with the final blessing from our Parish Priest.

7 APRIL 3, 2016 OPENING OF THE DOOR OF CHARITY IN SJBP In communion with all the parishes in the Archdiocese of Manila, we opened our Door of Charity (left door by the main entrance) last April 3, 2016, Sunday, just before the 9:30 AM mass. The opening rite, which started outside the church, was presided by our Parochial Vicar, Rev. Fr. Herbert Camacho. After the blessing and opening of the Door of Charity, the procession to the altar followed. Then there was renewal of baptismal vows in the light of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, followed by sprinkling of holy water to everyone present. After which, the regular course of the Eucharistic celebration took place. In opening the Door of Charity, our parish commits itself to the aim and spirit of the Jubilee of Mercy by doing concrete works of charity especially for the poor and the neglected in our community.

8 APRIL 5, 2016 FIESTA COMMITTEE MEETING The Fiesta Committee (FC), chaired by Bebat Nabong, held its first meeting on April 5, 2016 at the Parish Office. Others who were present in the meeting were Anabelle Mauricio FC Secretary; Mary Pacheco & Brenda Enriquez Finance Council; Juno Ligunas Youth Coordinator; Cionnie Sevilla, Angel Suhada, & Imah Maneja Publications; and Fr. Herbert Camacho Parochial Vicar and Worship Minister. Due to health reasons, Msgr. Nestor Cerbo, our Parish Priest was not able to join in the meeting. The meeting was mainly a discussion of what had transpired in the previous year s celebration. Suggestions were also made, which would require final approval of Msgr. Nestor. Nonetheless, it is the group s objective to ensure that SJBP Parishioners would have a meaningful and

9 happy celebration of our Fiesta Further updates will be cascaded in the weeks to come. APRIL 6, 2016 BEC WEDNESDAY MEETING The Parish Core Group Wednesday Meeting on April 6, 2016 was led by BEC Pedro Cruz, with Bro. Rene Reyes as facilitator. Fr. Herbert Camacho, Parochial Vicar gave the exegesis for the 3 rd Sunday of Easter with the theme: The Mystery of Easter is to Experience the Risen Lord. Connecting the 3 readings, he said that the encounter with the Risen Lord transforms us to missionaries and disciples of Jesus, who are not afraid to proclaim Him, even at the cost of one s life. Likewise he said that no one who has encountered the Risen Lord would remain worshipping false gods. Bro. Rene Reyes and Sis. Imah Maneja shared their expriences on how they were able to encounter the Risen Lord in their lives and how they are able to carry out Christ s mission after their encounter with Him. After the sharing, other matters were discussed. The next meeting shall be on April 20 as April 13 will be the schedule of the 4 th Session of BEC Orientation.
