EASTER Sunday MASS - March 27, :00 a.m. Ray Foz Commentator (The priests and other Altar Ministers enter the Sanctuary without any formal processional.) Good Morning brothers and sisters in Christ. Welcome to the Filipino Catholic Mission of Montreal. A most Happy Easter to one and all! Today is a day of feasting and joy, the greatest feast of the Church. We have integrated in today s celebration an Easter Tableau as well as the Salubong, a symbolic re-creation of the meeting between Jesus Christ and His mother, the Virgin Mary, after His resurrection from the dead 2,000 years ago. It was originally called the encuentro. by the Spaniards. At the recreation, Mary s deep sorrow is changed into great joy when she sees him alive. We believe as Catholics that Mary was one of the first people Jesus met after he rose from the dead. The lifting of the veil is meant to symbolize the end of the Virgin Mary s sorrows. It s like saying, Grieve no more for your Son is risen. Indeed, the Lord is truly risen, alleluia! Yes Alleluia, let us praise the Lord. Christ is risen, death has been overcome. It is not only Christ victory but ours too; we too can overcome, we too will rise like him. Let us express our faith and joy today while we sing with the Risen Lord. Tableau by the Youth

Salubong Rites All Altar Servers shall be accompanying the two images during the processional. The Rites take place. The two images will be placed in the Sanctuary. The GLORY TO GOD is sung by the choir. The Presider begins with the COLLECT. Gloria (Liturgical Dance performed by the children) Collect: Celebrant: (chant) O God, who on this day, through your Only Begotten Son, have conquered death and unlocked for us the path to eternity, grant, we pray, that we who keep the Solemnity of the Lord s Resurrection may, through the renewal brought by your Spirit, rise up in the light of life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. All Amen! Commentator: Please be seated. Liturgy of the Word Introduction to the 1 st Reading: Jesus resurrection is the essence of the Good News brought by Peter to Cornelius. On this truth depend our salvation and all that we believe about God s Incarnate Son. Rick Deriquito - 1 st Reading: Acts 10: A proclamation from the Acts of the Apostles. Peter proceeded to speak and said: You know what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses of all that he did, both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree. This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be seen, not by all the people, but by us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name. The Word of the Lord! All Thanks be to God! (Sung) c/o Mario Balan (Choir Ministry)Responsorial Psalm: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever. Let the house of Israel say, His mercy endures forever. R. The right hand of the Lord has struck with power; the right hand of the Lord is exalted. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. R. The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. By the Lord has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes.

Commentator: Please all stand. Commentator: With the ancient poet, let us proclaim the joy of Mary Magdalene at Jesus resurrection. All: Christians, to the Paschal Victim offer your thankful praises! A Lamb the sheep redeems: Christ, who only is sinless, reconciles sinners to the Father. Death and life have contended in that combat stupendous: the Prince of life, who died, reigns immortal. Speak, Mary, declaring what you saw, wayfaring. The tomb of Christ, who is living, the glory of Jesus resurrection; bright angels attesting, the shroud and napkin resting. Yes, Christ my hope is arisen: to Galilee he goes before you. Christ indeed from death is risen, our new life obtaining. Have mercy, victor King, ever reigning! Amen! Alleluia! Gospel Acclamation: Liturgical dance with incense Introduction to the Gospel: Alleluia! Alleluia! Christ, our paschal lamb, has been sacrificed; let us then feast with joy in the Lord. Alleluia! Alleluia! Coming to accept the reality of the Resurrection was a long process, as we learn from today s account of the discovery of the empty tomb. The absence of Jesus body and the position of the wrappings in the tomb were the first signs that led John and Peter to believe. Celebrant: The Lord be with you. R/ And with your spirit. A proclamation from the holy Gospel according to John. R/Glory to you, O Lord. On the first day of week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved,

and told them, They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don t know where they put him. So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first. He bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple, who had arrived at the tomb first, also went in. He saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead. The Gospel of the Lord! All Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!. Commentator: Please be seated. Homily Renewal of Baptismal Promises Commentator: We will now have the Renewal of our Baptismal promises; Please have your candles lighted. Please all stand. The Altar Servers and Apostles light their own candles from the Paschal Candle and pass on the flame down to the people. Celebrant: Dear brothers and sisters, through the Paschal Mystery we have been buried with Christ in Baptism, so that we may walk with him in newness of life. And so, now that our Lenten observance is concluded, let us renew the promises of Holy Baptism, by which we once renounced Satan and his works and promised to serve God in the holy Catholic Church. And so I ask you: Do you renounce sin, so as to live in the freedom of the children of God? All I do! Do you renounce the lure of evil, so that sin may have no mastery over you? All I do! Do you renounce Satan, the author and prince of sin? All I do!

Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth? All I do! Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered death and was buried, rose again from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father? All I do! Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? All I do! And may almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given us new birth by water and the Holy Spirit and bestowed on us forgiveness of our sins, keep us by his grace, in Christ Jesus our Lord, for eternal life. All Amen! Sprinkling with Holy Water 1* Choir sings a song for Baptism. 2* After the Fr. Frank has finished sprinkling everyone and has returned to the Altar, Commentator: Please put out your candle and we will now have the Prayer of the Faithful. Prayer of the Faithful: Celebrant: The resurrection of the Lord fills us with the sincere desire to live a new life, characterized by honesty, sincerity, purity, dedication and love. Commentator: Let us ask the Lord that this may become a reality for all as we pray: Risen Saviour, Grant our prayer! That the community of believers may bear witness to Christ s resurrection through its example of a continuous conversion from sin, let us pray! R. That the Holy Father, our Bishop and all our spiritual leaders may enjoy the consolation and peace that flow from Christ s resurrection, let us pray! R.

That those who feel disheartened by the situations of violence, oppression and suffering may find in the Resurrection the courage they need to continue their quest for a better society, let us pray! R. That all of us may receive the Easter blessing of a profound renewal of our moral values, socio-economic and political institutions, let us pray! R. That all the dying may find in the resurrection of Jesus their source of hope and serenity as they are about to leave this life, let us pray! R. That the power of Christ s risen life will overflow to those who have died especially (name), let us pray. (R) For the thanksgiving intentions of (name). Let us pray. (R) Let us pray in silence for our personal intentions. (Pause) Let us pray! R. Celebrant: Lord God, may the splendor of Your Son s resurrection always illumine our lives. And may our thoughts, words and actions bear witness to the new life You have given us. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. All Amen! Commentator: Please be seated Offertory Chant Liturgy of the Eucharist Preparation of the Gifts and Preparation of the Altar Main Celebrant: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. R/ Blessed be God for ever. (By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.)

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. R/ Blessed be God for ever. (With humble spirit and contrite heart may we be accepted by you, O Lord, and may our sacrifice in your sight this day be pleasing to you, Lord God. Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.) Commentator: Please all stand. Main Celebrant: Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father. R/ May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church Prayer over the Offerings: (chant) Exultant with paschal gladness, O Lord, we offer the sacrifice by which your Church is wondrously reborn and nourished. Through Christ our Lord. All Amen! Preface Dialogue: The Lord be with you R/ And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. R/ We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to Lord our God R/ It is right and just Easter Preface I It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, at all times to acclaim you, O Lord, but on this night, above all, to laud you yet more gloriously, when Christ our Passover has been sacrificed. For he is the true Lamb who has taken away the sins of the world; by dying he has destroyed our death, and by rising restored our life. Therefore, overcome with paschal joy, every land, every people exults in your praise and even the heavenly Powers, with the angelic hosts, sing together the unending hymn of your glory, as they acclaim:

Sanctus Commentator: Please all kneel. Introduction to the Eucharistic Prayer: With great gratitude and joy let us give thanks to the Father, for he has saved us and made us new by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Eucharistic Prayer I Principal Celebrant: To you, therefore, most merciful Father, we make humble prayer and petition through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord that you accept and bless these gifts, these offerings, these holy and unblemished sacrifices, which we offer you firstly for your holy catholic Church. Be pleased to grant her peace, to guard, unite and govern her throughout the whole world, together with your servant Francis, our Pope and Christian, our Bishop, and all those who, holding to the truth, hand on the catholic and apostolic faith. Concelebrant: Remember, Lord, your servants and all gathered here, whose faith and devotion are known to you. For them, we offer you this sacrifice of praise or they offer it for themselves and all who are dear to them: for the redemption of their souls, in hope of health and well-being, and paying their homage to you, the eternal God, living and true. Celebrating the most sacred day of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in the flesh, and in communion with those whose memory we venerate, especially the glorious ever-virgin Mary, Mother of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ, and blessed Joseph, her Spouse, your blessed Apostles and Martyrs, Peter and Paul, Andrew, (James, John, Thomas, James, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Simon and Jude; Linus, Cletus, Clement, Sixtus, Cornelius, Cyprian, Lawrence, Chrysogonus, John and Paul, Cosmas and Damian ), St. Thomas, San Lorenzo Ruiz, San Pedro Calungsod and all your Saints; we ask that through their merits and prayers, in all things we may be defended by your protecting help. (Through Christ our Lord. Amen)

Principal Celebrant: Therefore, Lord, we pray: graciously accept this oblation of our service, that of your whole family, which we make to you also for those to whom you have been pleased to give the new birth of water and the Holy Spirit, granting them forgiveness of all their sins; order our days in your peace, and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation and counted among the flock of those you have chosen. (Through Christ our Lord. Amen) Concelebrant: Be pleased, O God, we pray, to bless, acknowledge, and approve this offering in every respect; make it spiritual and acceptable, so that it may become for us the Body and Blood of your most beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Celebrant: On the day before he was to suffer, he took bread in his holy and venerable hands and with eyes raised to heaven to you, O God, his almighty Father, giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took this precious chalice in his holy and venerable hands, and once more giving you thanks, he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying: Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith. (When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.) Concelebrant: Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the blessed Passion, the Resurrection from the dead, and the glorious Ascension into heaven of Christ, your Son, our Lord, we, your servants and your holy people, offer to your glorious majesty from the gifts that you have given us,

this pure victim, this holy victim, this spotless victim, the holy Bread of eternal life and the Chalice of everlasting salvation. Be pleased to look upon these offerings with a serene and kindly countenance, and to accept them, as once you were pleased to accept the gifts of your servant Abel the just, the sacrifice of Abraham, our father in faith, and the offering of your high priest Melchizedek, a holy sacrifice, a spotless victim. In humble prayer we ask you, almighty God: command that these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy Angel to your altar on high in the sight of your divine majesty, so that all of us, who through this participation at the altar receive the most holy Body and Blood of your Son, may be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Concelebrant: Remember also, Lord, your servants N. and N., who have gone before us with the sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace. Grant them, O Lord, we pray, and all who sleep in Christ, a place of refreshment, light and peace. Concelebrant: To us, also, your servants, who, though sinners, hope in your abundant mercies, graciously grant some share and fellowship with your holy Apostles and Martyrs: with John the Baptist, Stephen, Matthias, Barnabas, (Ignatius, Alexander, Marcellinus, Peter, Felicity, Perpetua, Agatha, Lucy, Agnes, Cecilia, Anastasia) and all your Saints; admit us, we beseech you, into their company, not weighing our merits, but granting us your pardon, through Christ our Lord. Through whom you continue to make all these good things, O Lord; you sanctify them, fill them with life, bless them, and bestow them upon us. Principal Celebrant: Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever. Amen. The Lord s prayer Communion Rite

Sons and daughters of the Father through the death and resurrection of Jesus, let us pray to him the prayer taught us by our Risen Lord. Our Father.. Doxology Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. R/ For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Sign of Peace Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles; Peace I leave you, my peace I give you; look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever. R/ Amen. The peace of the Risen Lord be with you always. R/ And with your spirit. Let us offer each other the sign of peace. Breaking of the Bread Agnus Dei Invitation to Communion This is our risen Lord, who said and says again to us today. I am the bread of life. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life and I live in them. With this faith come to the table of the Lord. R/ Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Communion Communion Chant Prayer after Communion: Let us pray. (Pause) Lord God, our Father, with joy we have shared in the Easter meal of your Son. Through his body and blood you have assured us that we are destines for eternal life and that this life is already stirring in us. Keep filling us with the Spirit of your love, that we may live in the joy of your

one people, one heart and mind, and living for one another and for you, our God forever and ever. R/Amen Commentator: Please all kneel for the Prayer of Pope Francis for the Jubilee of Mercy. All: Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: If you knew the gift of God! You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with His anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this of you, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen. Commentator: Please be seated. Announcements Commentator: Please all stand. Concluding Rite Celebrant: The Lord be with you. R/ And with your spirit.

Celebrant: Bow your heads and pray for God s blessing. May almighty God bless you through today s Easter Solemnity and, in his compassion, defend you from every assault of sin. All Amen! And may he, who restores you to eternal life in the Resurrection of his Only Begotten, endow you with the prize of immortality. All Amen Now that the days of the Lord s Passion have drawn to a close, may you who celebrate the gladness of the Paschal Feast come with Christ s help, and exulting in spirit, to those feasts that are celebrated in eternal joy. All Amen! P And may the blessing of almighty God, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain with you for ever. All Amen! Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord. Alleluia, alleluia R/ Thanks be to God. Alleluia, alleluia Final Chant
