3 BOOK OF THE MONTH SEEKING GOD S FACE: Faith in an Age of Perplexity By Noto R. Thelle Offers a spiritual antidote to our alienated world by inviting the reader to that most personal of all encounters, a faceto-face with God. Now available at the Shrine Bookstore! encounter FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS First Saturday of each month, Reconciliation Chapel from 11:00-12:00 PM Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, and other Prayers As a mother, Our Lady wants none of her children to be lost, but all to be saved. So, let us faithfully and generously carry out her wishes in this great devotion of the First Five Saturdays. Sister Lucia has assured us that prayer and penance are absolutely necessary for the peace of the world through the conversion of sinners. The First Five Saturdays devotion with its unique combination of confession, Communion, and the Rosary, holds a special place in our Lady s plan. * AND, as our Mother, Our Lady of LaSalette invites us, Come near, my children. * Our Lady of Fatima: 100 Years of Stories, Prayers, and Devotions By Donna-Marie Cooper O Boyle WALKING IN HOPE SUPPORT GROUP: Bereavement Group for those who have lost loved ones from drug use OUR NEXT MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY, MARCH 22 AT 7:30 PM IN THE WELCOME CENTER The epidemic of drug use has hit this area hard. There have been many deaths from drug use and for parents, siblings and friends the loss is devastating. We have a support group for those who have lost someone to this horrible disease. THE BIBLE AND THE CHURCH FATHERS: A six week series March 19, 2018 from 7:15pm to 8:30pm in the Welcome Center Jon and Denise Swedberg will be presenting the series from The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology Pope Benedict states The Church Fathers present a theology that still has great value today because at its heart is the study of sacred scripture as a whole. Indeed, the Fathers are primarily and essentially commentators on sacred Scripture Over the six weeks we will be looking at who the Church Fathers were and how their ideas have shaped the way the Church understands Scripture today. We will encounter great teachers and cranky old men, hotheads and pacifists as well as monks and poets. We will read some of their writings and hear some of their stories as well as meet some of the heretics and heresies they battled. What we will find is that, even in today s world, the Church Fathers have so much to say to us and so much to teach us. Pg 3
4 COMMUNION DURING FLU SEASON Following the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, Bishop da Cuhna has issued the following guidelines: 1. If you feel like you are getting sick, STAY HOME. There is no sin in staying home thus preventing others from getting sick themselves! 2. For the sign of peace, an alternative to shaking hands is recommended. 3. Although not required, Communion in the hand is highly recommended. PILGRIMS OF HOPE MEXICO HOUSE BUILDING DATES FOR 2018 August 11-18, 2018 (Ages 16 to 90) If you or someone you know would be interested in this service trip, please contact Fr. Ted at: You can also visit our website at: NOTES FOR HOLY WEEK VESPERS FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF JOSEPH THE HUSBAND OF MARY Monday March 19 at 6:30 PM in the Shrine Church One of the most ancient customs in the church is the praying of Vespers (evening prayer.) Many churches mark special days called solemnities, with Sung Vespers. We did a Sung Vesper Service for Christian Unity Week. We have chosen a number of Solemnities for the celebration of Vespers. Our first one will be for the Solemnity of St. Jospeh the Husband of Mary. It will be incorporated into the Mass and should only make Mass a few minutes longer. Join us as we begin this custom at the Shrine. On Holy Thursday, Jesus instituted a Church that serves when he washed the disciples feet. When He did this, he turned to them and said what I have just done for you, you must do for one another. In that spirit, at the Holy Thursday Mass, everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to wash anothers feet and have your own feet washed. Please come prepared! (Women may want to consider avoiding nylon stockings.) We at the Shrine are grateful for the generosity of so many who make our work possible. We depend upon your goodness. Pg 4 Please make donations to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. at the address below. IN YOUR WILL: As you do your estate planning, remembering us in your will is a way of creating a lasting legacy of your life and helping to continue our good work. Our legal title is: Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. 947 Park St. Attleboro, MA 02703

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY March 13 at 1:15 PM Led by Dottie Levesque The prayer shawl ministry is an integral component of ministry in the universal Church. It is an outreach to individuals at significant times of their lives and it becomes a spiritual hug from God when it is worn. Because the ministry is deeply rooted in prayer, the shawl creators lovingly encircle the lives of the shawl wearers. You are welcome to join us each month! GRIEF EDUCATION & BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT The loss of a loved one in death is the greatest loss one faces, and the most piercing pain one will ever experience.
