WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION The Office of Marriage Preparation & Enrichment is sponsoring the annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration honoring couples of the Diocese of Providence who will be observing their 25 th, 40 th, 50 th and over 50 years wedding anniversaries in The celebration will be held on Sunday, Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul, Providence and will include Mass, renewal of the marriage vows, a personalized certificate for each couple and a reception for the couples and their families. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be the main celebrant. Forms are available at the entrance of St. Mary s Church and St. James Chapel. All forms must be sent by August 17. Please give your form to parish secretary before August 10. RESPECT LIFE THEME 2018 BE NOT AFRAID Jesus is always with us. Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age..(matt. 28:20) Under the guidance of Our Blessed Mother, Do whatever he tells you. (John 2:5) Think about praying for an unborn baby and their families. Every day 4000 babies are killed by abortion. They have so little protection only the hand of God can end this. Prayer is the best weapon to help them the most effective. Say this prayer for nine months to save a baby s life. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much, I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion..being PROLIFE is: believing that a baby's life is a gift that should be cherished. believing that a mother is a precious human life with value and dignity. believing that all human life belongs only to the Creator who gave us life. believing that all life is God's to give and take. 4 O glorious Guardian Angel of the United States, to whom God has entrusted the care of our beloved country, we honor you and thank you for the care and protection you have given to this great nation from the first moment of its inception. O powerful Angel Guardian, whose watchful glance encompasses this vast land from shore to shore, we know that our sins have grieved our Lord and God and marred the beauty of our heritage. Lead us to a deep conversion, so that we may return to the embrace of His merciful love! God Bless Jealousy, envy, pride, how many times have we failed to see someone s goodness or gifts and talents because things such as jealousy or prejudice or close minded hearts fail to see someone s goodness. How many times do our gifts and talents go unused because we cannot see our ability to let God use us? Prejudice prevented people from accepting Jesus healing mercy. They could not believe in the power he had, they even said his power came from the devil. They could not see that God could also use them as instruments of healing and mercy. Jealousy and envy prevented them from seeing their own abilities to be God s instruments. St. Paul learned; My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness...for when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:710). St. Paul allowed himself to be an instrument of God s grace, healing and mercy. He was not jealous or envious of other peoples gifts and talents, he let himself be used by God for what God wanted to accomplish through him. What then does God want to accomplish through us? 5 Report Status of A Place of Our Own May 21, 2018 We all should be very proud that we are well on our way to having A Place of Our Own. In the last two months great progress has been made despite numerous snow and rain delays. Much of the work is not obvious because it is underground. The septic tank has been installed with a long line from the building to the septic system. A storm water runoff line has been installed from the new building to the basin in the north-west corner and preparations have been made for electricity and water connections between the two buildings. The building foundation was poured and has since been water sealed and insulated. Very soon, the floor to the basement and the slab for the main area will be poured. The sills have been completed around the building, joists have been installed and soon the building walls will begin to go up. In addition, at the well, a new pump with new wiring has been installed (to replace the 25 year old system), and water flow testing has been completed for submittal to the Dept. of Health. The Committee has already addressed the questions of the sound system, appliances in the pantry, furniture in the building and all the lighting required. Other details are on our to-do list. Thanks to the Building Committee for all their work, especially Barry Goewey, our architect, and to our General Contractor/parishioner, Mike Cocci. The Office of Life and Family has an ongoing support group for divorced and separated Catholics at St. Mary s Church, rectory (downstairs, side entrance), 437 Carolina Back Road (Rte. 112), Carolina, RI. It is held on the first and third Wednesday evening of each month, 7:008:30 pm. This free support group embraces our Catholic faith and provides a peaceful place for sharing, healing, and for topics related to separation/ divorce. Preregistration is required. Contact: Peter A.
