5 FOOD FOR THOUGHT DURING LENT A man was asked to help make improvements in a church building. The windows needed replaced, painting needed done, and the grounds needed trees and bushes planted. His reply was: My father and others helped to build this building. But things were different then. My mother took care of the children. Life was less complicated. I was an altar boy growing up. I sang in the choir, and belonged to church organizations. Now that I am a father, I don t have time to help with everything. I have to work to support my family. My children are involved in activities. I don t have the time to do all that my father did. I participate in Liturgy, pay my dues, and give an offering every Sunday. I think I do my share. Notice how many I statements there are in this story! Not long after this, the man had many difficulties in his life. He prayed, Oh God, I need Your help. Now, God would never do this, but just what if God would answer: I helped you in many times of need. I ve done my share of helping. You are on your own. God has never abandoned us. Working for the Church is working for God. Can we abandon Him? Think about it.anonymous WISH THEM A HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN MARCH! 3 Nancy Kobal 3 Emily Muchesko 6 Olivia Johnson 7 Lexi Vatavuk 9 Anastasia Machik 9 Erin Lozanoff 12 Joye Matolyak 13 Heather Sally 15 Halee Angel Karashin 15 Joy Love 18 Elsie Arendas 18 Joseph Kuhar 19 Nancy Ernest 20 Nicholas Seitz 20 Noah Cuneo 21 Joshua Machik 23 Cheri Miloro 23 Janet Seitz 25 Neil Vatavuk 28 Elijah Sakmar 29 Amanda Love
6 A Message from Your Pastor.. Another Lent has arrived! This 40-day journey can be one which actually takes us somewhere, or one which aimlessly wanders with no real direction in mind. That is completely up to us. For, you see, Lent comes every year, but we are the ones personally and privately who make Lent what it really is. Today, most of us find ourselves trying to live a double life a life in this world, and a life in the Church. Of course, we find that to be difficult, if not impossible, because the Church is constantly trying to put things back into perspective for us, and the world we live in keeps pulling us away! The world does not provide us with a Lenten atmosphere. In order to live the 40 days of Lent, we must provide that Lenten atmosphere in our lives. A Lenten lifestyle is difficult, not easy. It was never easy in any era of the Church, but perhaps today with all our technology and modern diversions, it is a most difficult lifestyle. What you personally do with these 40 days will determine if this has been Lent, or just a change of the seasons from winter to spring (which right now we could all use badly after more than 3 feet of snow accumulation over the past week!). Let us live Lent 2010 to the very best of our ability. - Father Miloro EASTER RAFFLE WE WILL HELP YOU WITH YOUR EASTER PREPARATIONS!
