Carol is the daughter of Linda and Gary Mattfeld. She, her husband, Sean, and their four children, Benjamin, Sarah, Luke and Leah, moved to Montgomery last June. Articles of Interest...5 Birthdays & Anniversaries...7 March Calendar...8 nnn Previously, Carol was a Kindergarten teacher at Trinity Downtown for 12 years and Sean was the Director of IT at Trinity Downtown for 10 years. They recently felt God s calling to relocate. In July, Sean began another phase in his Technology Ministry at Trinity Klein. Carol is currently staying at home with their two youngest children. She is very thankful for this opportunity to be able to work from home. Carol and Sean enjoy spending quality time with their children and family. They like to take road trips, camp, cook, bake and BBQ, read, watch movies and spend time outdoors. Carol is responsible for our communications. She will publish the monthly newsletter, weekly bulletin announcements, update the website, post on Facebook and Twitter, and do PR work. The keynote speaker will be Jay Sekulow, the chief counsel for the American Center for Law & Justice. After Five Attire is required with a Silent Auction at 6pm and Dinner at 7pm. Living Savior Lutheran has sponsored a table for 10 attendees. Tickets may be purchased for $65 by March 17th from Trish Wunderlich. 4 Lutheran World Relief School Kits Lenten Project Beginning Sunday, March 9 we will begin collecting items for School Kits for children in Myanmar, Armenia and other countries. We would love to involve everyone in our congregation to be a part of this project. Items can be brought individually, as suggested for each Sunday, or all at the same time. Donations can be left in the marked box located in the Fellowship Hall. March 9-4 (70 sheet) wide ruled notebooks (8 1/2 x 10 1/2). NO loose leaf paper. March 16-1 pencil sharpener and 1 30cm ruler (inches on one side and cm on the other is fine). March 23-1 pair blunt tip scissors, (safety scissors with embedded steel blades are fine). March 30-5 unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers, secured together with a rubber band. April 6-5 ballpoint pens (no gel ink), secured together with a rubber band. April 13-1 box of 16 or 24 crayons. We also collect individually wrapped bars of soap. Monetary donations are also welcome as each kit costs $1.40 to ship. Please make checks out to Mary Martha Guild, LWML. A BIG thank you to Lorna Lipsey for making the backpacks for the School Kits! Ash Wednesday Meal The ladies of the Mary Martha Guild will be providing the meal for Ash Wednesday, March 5. The menu will consist of a variety of casseroles, salads and desserts. Supper begins at 5:30 followed by Ash Wednesday service. VBS Decorating The decorating committee for our July VBS is underway, gathering items to use for this summer's Weird Animals theme. Donated items marked VBS can be placed in the corner left of the stage. Any help you can give us is greatly appreciated. 5 FROM THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT Talk about a MOUNTAIN-TOP EXPERIENCE..Sunday, March 2nd celebrates the dazzling appearance of Christ along with Moses and Elijah to Peter, James and John on the mountain top. Just imagine the awesomeness of that!! We will explore How the Lamp Shines. After that mountain-top worship experience, on Wednesday, March 5th, we gather for our Ash Wednesday worship. For those who do not like to get out at night, there will be a 4:00 service as well as a 7:00 service. Both will include the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion. Our Lenten theme this year is RESTORED IN CHRIST. We face together the brokenness of our lives and our world, and then turn that brokenness over to Christ so that we can be restored by Him through the cross. March s: March 5th, Ash Wednesday: Broken Hearts. Our hearts are broken in sorrow over sin; Christ restores our hearts through His forgiveness. s at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Every Wednesday night during Lent there will be a light supper served 5:30-6:30. Pre- singing will begin at 6:40, with service at 7:00. (Note: Choir will practice 6-6:40 and after service.) March 12th: Broken Vessel. A broken vessel holds costly perfume; we are broken vessels, restored by Christ. at 7:00 p.m. only. March 19th: Broken Trust. Judas breaks his trust with Jesus; our broken trust is restored through the sacrifice of Christ. at 7:00 p.m. only. March 26th: Broken Bread. Bread is broken at the Last Supper; we are restored through the Bread of Life, Jesus. at 7:00 p.m. only. Carve these special opportunities into your schedule as a priority during this most meaningful time of the Church Year. Restoration is amazing! The Sunday School children will sing in Sunday morning services on March 16, and the YOUTH PARTICIPATION will be on Sunday, March 30th. I will sing of your strength, O Lord, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. 6 LSLC Sign Installation TRUSTEES AT WORK Hallelujah! We have a beautiful new sign - dedicated to the Glory of God. A big thank you to Mike Newman, Doug Lee and Dick Wiese for building the base. A special thank you to all the youth, Sam Hadley, Bethany Perez, Tyler Schroeder, Adam Perez, Katie Langlois and Gabe Chambers, (and a few adults) who managed to get the sign from the garage and lifted up onto the base. The parking lot is sealed and striping is almost finished thanks to Katie Langlois. We would like to remove the cement stands/flower pots by the front door of the sanctuary if anyone is interested in taking them home please contact me. Also, if anyone is interested in serving on the Board of Trustees, PLEASE contact Joice Fangmann A Heart-Felt Thank You If you attended the Love Dinner on February 15 with all its romantic ambiance, you probably thought you were in a first class five star restaurant. Soft music played by a talented harpist added that perfect touch of class. The menu included steaks and chicken, grilled to perfection, luscious creamy potatoes and yummy green beans wrapped in bacon. Topping off the meal was dreamy strawberry short cake and an out-of-this-world chocolate cake. The meal was served by our youth who made us all proud by their professional manner of serving. We owe a big "THANK YOU" to our head chef, Brian Angerhofer, and his skilled assistant, James Hadley. Also, we thank our youth and their parents for all their hard work. Finally, we thank Diane Hadley for making this a memorable evening. The youth raised $3000. Thanks to a very generous donation as well as, Thrivent matching funds of $600. We are truly blessed to be apart of such a giving congregation. Funds raised will be helping to support the summer youth trip to Arizona - Apache Youth Ministries in August.

7 Safe Boating es Texas Parks & Wildlife Department certified safe boating courses will be offered by the Houston Sail & Power Squadron on the first Saturday of each month at the Conroe Branch of the Montgomery County Library. Subjects include seamanship, required equipment, state and federal regulations, rules of the road, emergency procedures and much more. They cover just about everything you need to get started and are a great refresher for the more experienced boater. Those born on or after September 1, 1993 must complete a safe boating course and pass a TPWD test that is offered with this class in order to operate a Personal Watercraft (PWC) or boat with horsepower greater than 15 horsepower.
