Deliverance and Healing There will be a Deliverance and Eucharistic Healing service on Nov. 7 after 5p.m. Mass. Those who are seeking deliverance and healing from Jesus, our Divine Physician, are most welcome to attend. Perpetual Adoration Establish a love relationship with Jesus! Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ Himself, present in the Holy Eucharist. During Adoration in our chapel, the Eucharist is exposed in a beautiful vessel called a monstrance. From the altar, our Lord gazes at us in the Eucharist, wanting for us to give Him our hearts, our burdens, our sufferings, our joys and our sorrows so that He may transform us and sanctify us. In the silence of hearts, we are able to go before Him, to love and adore Him simply because HE is GOD. [Call to learn more about a Holy Hour.] Stewardship Collection October 18 24,08420 The offering envelope for The Solemnity of All Saints was omitted from the November monthly mailing. Envelopes for this special collection will be available in the church reading rack and in a basket for All Saints Day Sunday, November 1 st. We have confirmed that it will be included in the monthly offering envelopes next year. Children s stewardship October 18: $ Grades k-4th This week my prayers of special intention were for: Christians who are suffering all over the world; my brother so he can do good at b-ball; Lolo and Lola; Mommy. This is how I used my time and talent for others during the past week: I played and agreed with my friend; I helped fold clothes for mom and dad; I listened to my parents. Grades 5th 12th This week my prayers of special intention were for: Gillian Kinder; My Uncle who is in Africa; My family; OPHS band. This is how I used my time and talent for others during the past week: I volunteered at the bazaar; Babysitting and chores for my family; Singing in the church choir. TRAINING FOR NEW EMHC S AND READERS Monday November 9, 6-9 pm Training for NEW EMHCs who missed first session Tuesday November 10, 6-9pm Training for NEW Lectors (Readers) who missed first session. 5 N 1, 2015 _ P 5 Social Ministry A Season of Giving Though the year is winding down, the needs of the community are gearing up, and once again we are turning to the generosity of our parishioners. The following is a schedule of the various Ministries and outreach services for which we will be collecting donations over the next several weeks: St Vincent de Paul Society November 1-Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time: In the Gospel today, Jesus tells us: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, & with all your strength & you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Through your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you can show your love for our Lord and your love of your neighbor who is hungry, hopeless, alone and frightened. OUR DONATION BOX IS LOCATED IN THE BRICK PILLAR UNDER THE PICTURE OF ST. VINCENT de PAUL November The Farm Worker Ministries (Nov. 1 14) Please bring your donations of pinto beans, rice, maseca flour, can vegetables, sugar and coffee. Look for the blue bin in the Narthex to deposit donations. Knights of Columbus Food Drive (Nov ) Food Drive to benefit needy of our community. Giving Tree (begins November 21). This ministry provides gifts and certificates to struggling families to help them celebrate Christmas. December Sulzbacher Stockings. We are collecting soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes and toothpaste for the homeless Giving Tree presents due back 12/5and 12/6 Blood Mobile Knights of Columbus Food Drive Calling all Giving Tree Angels! 6 Page 6 November 1, 2015 Faith Formation Religious Education Bible Timeline Series Begins The response for the Bible Timeline series was overwhelming! Over 200 people have embarked on a journey through the Old and New Testaments. Rooney Hall was full as the first session was held on Oct 27. The 24-session series is available in two sessions weekly, 10 a.m. and 7:30pm on Tuesdays. A brief explanation regarding The Rite of Acceptance / The Rite of Welcoming November 1 at the 10am Mass Basic Definitions: Catechumen: A non-baptized individual who has made the decision to be baptized and enter the Church Candidate: Previously baptized individual who seeks full communion with the Roman Catholic Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist Catechumenate: The time frame where those who have decided to enter the Church are being trained for a life in Christ. In the Rite of Acceptance/Welcoming there is a change in identity where those previously known as inquirers become catechumens and candidates. The Church will officially welcome the catechumens and candidates as disciples, members (although not yet full members) of the church. This rite is the first consecration by the Church for those seeking Christian initiation. Candidates and Catechumen will literally be marked with the cross of Christ as God s own. This new life will be an answer to God s earlier call to follow Him. They will now be a part of this community of the faithful, the family of God, for He has called them by name. All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church. SAINT BARBARA: Patron Saint of Army field artillery & fireworks Barbara lived in the 4th century. Her tyrannical father, Dioscorus, kept her secluded in a lonely tower which he had built for that purpose. Here, in her forced solitude, she gave herself to prayer and study, and contrived to receive instruction and Baptism in secret by a Christian priest.. Barbara resisted her father's wish that she marry. Then on one occasion, during her father's absence, Barbara had three windows inserted into a bathhouse her father was constructing. Her purpose was thereby to honor the Holy Trinity. Dioscorus was enraged by her action and by her conversion. So he himself denounced her before the civil tribunal. She was horribly tortured, and at last was beheaded. Her own father, merciless to the last, acted as her executioner. God, however, speedily punished her persecutor. While her soul was being borne by angels to Paradise, a flash of lightning struck Dioscorus, and he was hurried before the judgment seat of God. Because of the death of her persecutor, Barbara was first invoked during thunderstorms, then against sudden deaths in general. Then gunpowder and artillery were invented, creating a whole industry where accidental sudden death was a daily risk. Suddenly Saint Barbara was very popular in all the explosion -based activities, and thus became the patron saint of fireworks, too.

We also provide dinner for the youth because many of them are coming from Religious Education. We need to feed people each week. If you are interested in providing a snack, drinks, or a light meal for any of our groups, please contact Robin Shipley in the Youth Office. NCYC Delegate Meeting NCYC Delegates and parents we will have a brief meeting on Sunday, November 1 AT 11:30 am in the Youth Room. WYD pilgrims will meet after Noon Mass. Prayer House and Dodgeball in November Prayer House and Dodge Ball will gather on Sunday, November 15 th 6:15pm Youth Room Mini-Mission set for Nov. 23 SCYevent: All youth grades 6-12 are welcome to join us for our first Mini-Mission, which is a small act of service done with great love! We are going to play board games with the greatest generation(s) at Life Care on Kingsley on Monday, November 23 rd, 2:30-3:30 PM National Night of Prayer Youth please prayerfully consider helping lead the first hour of the National Night of Prayer for Life on Tuesday December 8.
