Newman Center Summer Schedule will change to one evening Mass on Sundays. We will resume the 8:00pm Sunday Mass from Sunday June7, through Sunday July 26. A Sense of Belonging Once we realize that we are bound to a deeper story, we then begin to ask the most basic questions that all of humanity must ask themselves: why am I here? Or, even a little farther we may ask, For what purpose am I here? Standing on a side street in Rome, I found myself overcome with a deep sense of belonging. It wasn t that I belonged in Rome; it was that I belonged in the deeper story to the fullness of the Catholic faith. Not 6 months prior, I had said my yes to the faith in confirmation. We all will find our place in the Church. We must. We must or we will feel an emptiness that comes with skimming the surface of our faith. God calls us and we must answer. When I found that I belonged in the Church, I then had to find where I belonged in the Church. Every year at Madalene, we have a stewardship fair that gives us a glimpse into what the church has to offer us. But, we miss the 51 other weeks of the year to find out. It truly is important to remember that we are all called to ministry in the Church. Whether we find our ministry in RCIA, the choir, CCD, the parish council or many of the other ministries that are offered at our parish, we will find where we belong when we look. For me, it is RCIA. As we being to get prepared to start RCIA again this fall, we will encounter those who are searching for the deeper story. Catholic Charities Food Pantry continues to serve between 125 and 150 families each day over 45,000 individuals each year. If you have ever wanted to do something that directly impacts people in need, helping them with their groceries is one of the most basic needs we provide. We need more volunteers to assist clients with their orders Tuesdays through Fridays between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. Can you spare two or three hours a week to help out? The Mother Mary Widows group meets on the third Thursdays of each month at 11:00am in the Library at the. All widows are welcome. The group meets to offer support, share experiences and prayers following the suggestions of the Stand in the Gap Ministry. If you are a widow or know of one, the group may provide just what is needed at this time. It offers an opportunity not only to receive help but to offer it to others. If you are interested or have questions please call Rita Boyle at The Prayer Shawl Ministry has some shawls that are ready to be given to our community. If you or someone you know could benefit from a prayer shawl, please contact Claudia Mastin at for more information. Chi Peter Phung, will continue as Pastor of St. Michael Parish in Henryetta and St. Teresa Parish in Okemah while Fr. Hung Le assumes pastorate of St. Stephen s in Holdenville (formerly under the pastorate of Rev. Chi Peter Phung). Previously, Rev. John Grant has completed his studies at the Liturgical Institute at Mundelein, and was named Associate Pastor at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa as well as Assistant Director of the Diocesan Office of Liturgy and Assistant Master of Ceremonies.

5 Corpus Christi June 7, 2015 Please call Fr. Bryan at Ext. 12 if you would consider serving our parish as a Parish Council Representative, or if you would like to nominate someone as a candidate. The Parish Council's main purpose is to assist the Pastor, align the mission of the Parish with diocesan norms and carry the Church forward through any changes in those norms. Elections for Parish Pastoral Council are held annually. A. Responsibilities include reviewing matters of: Christian Education and other matters pertaining to parish activity; Maintenance and improvement of parish facilities; Matters of finance--consider, amend and give final review of annual budgets of the various parish departments and organizations. Major expenditures which are necessary for maintenance, replacement of equipment, or additional capital expenditures which are not covered in approved budgets. B. Be prepared to bring creative ideas and suggestions to Parish Council meetings regarding the above items and/or parish life in general. C. Attendance is expected at every Parish Council meeting. Absence from three consecutive meetings without sufficient reason, as determined by the Parish Council Chair, shall result in removal from the Council. D. In addition to Parish Council meetings, please be prepared to contribute additional time toward work on the standing committees and projects associated with the Parish Council. E. It is strongly recommended that you make an effort to attend all major parish functions. This may include, but not limited to, the Stewardship Fair, Parish Picnic, and Parish Outreach Day.
