2 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Just a reminder there will be NO CCD Saturday, March 31st or Sunday April 1st. Wishing all of you a very blessed and holy Easter, Mrs. Chase & Mrs. Marco WELCOME Our humanity bleeds through today's Gospel passages in more ways than one. We see both elaon and fall, hope in the midst of the darker sides of our natures. If we allow it, these Gospels hold a mirror to our own fickle hearts. The crowds cry "Hosanna" and the Apostles profess allegiance unto death. In a manner of days even hours Jesus is betrayed, abandoned, denied, condemned, tortured, and executed. As God, he could have stopped this horrific narrave from unfolding, but he doesn't. He allows free will to play itself out. There are nearly two millennia between this spectacle and us. We can stand safely removed, if we choose. But Lent invites us to return to this story. Lent invites us to find ourselves in the people we encounter there. Are we the repentant woman at Bethany? Are we naysayers of such lavish piety? Have we acted in a way that betrays those we love or denies what we know to be good and true? Have we fallen asleep in our faith? Have we unfairly accused others of a crime or immorality we imagine, though perhaps they didn't commit? Do we help others carry their burdens? Do we stand in solidarity with those who suffer? Do we care for the dying? This week, take up today's Gospel again. Look carefully at the Passion narrave and sit with it in silence. Find yourself in the story and ponder its meaning for your own life. Journey with Jesus to the foot of the Cross so that you too may say, along with the faithful centurion, "truly this man was the Son of God!" ARE YOU BEING CALLED? A MESSAGE FROM FR. GOLAS: TRIDUUM, HOLY THURSDAY, GOOD FRIDAY, HOLY SATURDAY AND HOLY WEEK With our two Churches merged into one Parish, I have received a direcve from the Archdiocese about the Triduum, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. There will be one celebraon of the Sacred Triduum in the Parish. It is not possible to have two celebraons: one in each Church. The direcves do allow for the celebraon to alternate between different locaons. The Sacred Triduum this year for St. Jeanne Jugan parish will be as follows: Holy Thursday March 29th: Note: There will be no daily Mass at either Church; Mass at 7 pm at St. Bernard Church; Adoraon unl 9:30 pm at St. Bernard Church. Good Friday March 30th: Note: There will be no daily Mass at either Church; Prayer Service at 9 am at Holy Family Church; Lord s Passion at 3 pm at Holy Family Church; Divine Mercy Novena at 4 pm at Holy Family Church; Tenebrae at 7 pm at St. Bernard Church. 3 St. Bernard School & Lile Angels PreSchool SACRIFICES AND EFFORTS DURING LENT The students at our school are taking advantage of this Lenten season to grow closer to Christ through their sacrifices and efforts to improve their lives. From the youngest: I will give up delicious chocolate chip cookies. I will keep my room clean. I will listen to and obey my teachers and parents. I will not hit my brother. I will give up all kinds of candy. I will give up playing with my toys. I will help daddy with the laundry. I will pray for those who are sick. I will watch my baby brother when my mom is busy. I will throw my trash in the trash can. To the oldest: I will not argue with my siblings. I will limit my screen me to an hour a day. I will give up chocolate. I will write a prayer in my notebook for 40 days. I will stop doodling in class. I will give up Burger King. I will pray before I fall asleep. I will give up Empire Total War and Duty WWII. I will eat healthier. I will say a decade of the rosary before bed every night. I will spend more me with my parents. I will watch YouTube for only 2 hours a day. The crew will be removing Christmas items the week of March 19th in preparaon for Easter on April 1st. Please take anything that you want before that date. Beginning the week of April 16th, the crew will be removing plants and flowers that are no longer viable as well as clearing away bricabrac that is listed as not allowed in the cemetery. Please refer to the signs posted in the cemeteries. Easter flowers will not be removed as long as they are sll viable. Please call the office at (860) if you have any quesons. Thank you for your cooperaon in keeping our cemetery a serene and Godly place of repose for our loved ones. ALTAR SERVERS St. Bernard Church and Holy Family Church are looking for a few new recruitments for altar servers. This is a great opportunity for any child in Grade 3 and up to become involved with the Liturgy of the Mass and to give service to their Church.
