2 All Saints Roman Catholic Parish Mesa O ur humanity bleeds through today's Gospel passages in more ways than one. We see both elaon and fall, hope in the midst of the darker sides of our natures. If we allow it, these Gospels hold a mirror to our own fickle hearts. The crowds cry "Hosanna" and the Apostles profess allegiance unto death. In a manner of days -- even hours -- Jesus is betrayed, abandoned, denied, condemned, tortured, and executed. As God, he could have stopped this horrific narrave from unfolding, but he doesn't. He allows free will to play itself out. There are nearly two millennia between this spectacle and us. We can stand safely removed, if we choose. But Lent invites us to return to this story. Lent invites us to find ourselves in the LITURGY CORNER people we encounter there. Are we the repentant woman at Bethany? Are we naysayers of such lavish piety? Have we acted in a way that betrays those we love or denies what we know to be good and true? Have we fallen asleep in our faith? Have we unfairly accused others of a crime or immorality we imagine, though perhaps they didn't commit? Do we help others carry their burdens? Do we stand in solidarity with those who suffer? Do we care for the dying? This week, take up today's Gospel again. Look carefully at the Passion narrave and sit with it in silence. Find yourself in the story and ponder its meaning for your own life. Journey with Jesus to the foot of the Cross so that you too may say, along with the faithful centurion, "truly this man was the Son of God!" PARISH STAFF Pastor... Fr. Robert J. RITA MINISTRY The St. Rita Ministry is a ministry that was started to provide outreach to parishioners who are elderly, lonely and isolated. We provide weekly visits or phone calls to parishioners who have requested this outreach. We have also sponsored 2 educaonal programs on Alzheimer s and depression. Any All Saints parishioner is welcome to join the St. Rita Ministry and aend our next meeng on Monday, March 26 from 6-7 PM in McKay Hall. But pledges and contribuons connue to come in. Thank you to everyone who has made a gi to the CDA. CDA funds allow them to provide crical services and resources to our parishes, diocese and local communies. If you have not yet parcipated, please prayerfully consider making your gi today. Saturday, March 31 st, 2018 McKay Hall (West Side) - 6-7:30am. Next week we will resume the series we began at the beginning of the year The Goose is Loose Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Your St. Vincent de Paul team has been very busy during the first 2 months of 2018 making home visits to clients within our church's boundaries. We made a total of 138 visits and helped approximately 415 people. That breaks down to 124 food boxes, 24 families geng assistance with SRP bills, 4 with city water bills, 17 with rent and 12 with vouchers for furniture or clothing at the SVdP Thri Stores. We connue to ask that you leave your unopened cereal boxes, pastas, or canned goods in our wire basket in front of McKay Hall, especially if you are one of our winter visitors who are cleaning out your cupboards before leaving for the summer. We cannot accept any opened foods, clothing, electronics, or household items at this locaon. Please take them directly to our closest SVdP Thri Store on Apache Trail in AJ or if it is furniture or appliances, call the PHX office ( ) to arrange for a pickup.
