1 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, First of all, I want to thank to all who attended the Mass for People with Disabilities in St. Clair Shores last month. Your presence was important and helpful because it served as a reminder to the Archdiocese to continue support our Deaf Ministry. I am pleased that there will be second international Deaf Catholic gathering in Rome on June 26-28, On June 28, deaf people will meet the pope. I am working closely with Sr. Kathleen Schipani of Philadelphia. We are hoping to have a joint pilgrimage for people from Philadelphia and Detroit. We will travel to different places around Italy and possibly Medjugorje. More information will be announced once I get the details. The first international Deaf Catholic gathering in Rome had occurred in 2008 during the pontificate of Benedict XVI. It was sponsored by International Catholic Foundation, an organization advocating the needs of Deaf Catholics in the Church. In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, we will have a prayer service for the blessing of animals on Monday, October 3 at 7 PM. It will be held at St. John s Deaf Center. Please come to St. John s Deaf Center on October 7 for our first movie night! We will watch the first part of the Gospel of Matthew. In November, we will finish the second part. Our Lady of Rosary The Church honors Mary, Dedicating October to her. Pray the rosary every Sunday in October before Mass at OLL-WDCD at 8:45AM and Holy at 10:30AM. Everyone is welcome! In honor of St. Francis of Assisi Fr. Mike will lead a prayer service, which he will bless all animals present at a Chapel. If you want to have your dog, cat, or other pets being blessed, then bring them to St. John s Deaf Center on Monday, October 3rd at 7:00PM. All Saint s Day All Saints are a Holy Day (all Catholics are required to attend Mass). There will be two Masses at SJDC in Chapel on Tuesday, November 1st and the times are 10:30AM & 7PM. Also, there will be an interpreted Mass at Our Lady of Loretto Church and the time is 7PM. Christian Services Hello Everyone! Soon we will be collecting for Deaf families with specific needs at Thanksgiving & Christmas time. Hope you can help. Details will be coming soon. 4 SHARING CHRIST IN AND THROUGH the CHURCH Catholic Services Appeal 2016 Each year the Church calls us to help our local churches, support programs offered by the Archdiocese, give as faithful stewards, and pray for Christ s work to be done. As Catholics, it is our DUTY to help people in need; we can do that through the CSA. The Catholic Deaf Community depends on the success of CSA. We need your help. There are 2 ways to do it: a one-time donation, or, a payment plan. These are difficult times for everyone but this is a one-time yearly donation.
