2 2015 Parish Fair The Parish Fair will be held on September 4 th, 5 th & 6 th in conjunction with the Feast of the Three Saints. This is a great opportunity for parishioners to work together as a community. We are looking for CLEAN electrical items in working condition & the following items in good condition & clean: Clean Stuffed Animals Jewelry Crafts Gifts Empty Jewelry boxes Pocketbooks Unopened Cologne & Cosmetics Toys and Dolls White Elephant Items Wine & Liquor for the Raffles Books & Religious Articles New items will also be accepted We will not accept luggage of any kind, Christmas trees, used computers, computers parts, clothing, encyclopedias & typewriters. The Parish Center will be open from 6-8 pm on the following Monday evenings: July 20, 27 August 3, 10 & 17 August 17 th will be the last opportunity to drop off any of the above mentioned items. When the temperature heats up, so does demand for volunteers at the Cor Unum Meal Center at St. Patick s Parish in Lawrence. This summer, tens of thousands of children and adults will be served free, nutritious meals at Cor Unum. Serving meals at Cor Unum is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, families, and groups. 5 MARRIAGE: It should go without saying that Catholic Church teaching is based on sacred scripture and tradition. The recent Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage does not change the Church's teaching that marriage is the God-ordained union of a man and a woman. The Church understands the reality of samesex attraction which in itself is not a sin; acting on the attraction would be a sin. Those with same-sex attraction are to be treated with the respect and dignity due to all God's children, according the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Church has a program to help those with same-sex attraction lead holy lives: courage; and for family members, encourage. You should be able to google this for more information or look it up in the Catholic directory. PARISH FAIR We are getting closer to our Labor Day weekend parish fair. Starting this Monday July 20 th from 6-8pm, we will receive goods for sale in the parish center. The last Monday to donate will be August 17 th. Those on our mailing list will receive raffle tickets, along with a letter and info sheet on donating time. We need more folks to volunteer 2 hours or more to the fair. Fr. Mawn RELIGIOU S EDUCATION PROGRAM Classes from Kindergarten through High School meet on Sundays as scheduled from 10:15 to 11:15 AM at the Parish Center. Children and young adults are prepared for the Sacraments and receive on-going formation in faith at every grade level. Registration for the fall will begin in mid- August. Classes begin in late September and continue through April each year.
