CHARLES AND HELENA CHURCH CLIO, MICHIGAN JUNE 10, 2018 TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME The Chaplin Coughlin Classic The Knights of Columbus Council #13703 is sponsoring a Charity Golf Scramble outing on Monday, July 23rd, at the Clio Golf and Country Club. The monies will help honor US Military Veterans. Shotgun start is at 10:00 a.m. A continental breakfast will start the morning, and hotdogs and hamburgers will be served at the turn. A catered dinner from Italia Gardens is included in the entry fee. Dinner tickets only are available for $12.00 each. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Flyers and registration forms are available in the gathering space or in the parish office. If you are interested, please send an to Don at: d.faxlanger@mikofc.org. or call VBS June 19th-June 21st 9:00 a.m-12:00 noon SS. Charles & Helena Stranded on an island? Your crewmates will really need to work together to survive! Come along and join us at VBS on June 19th, 20th, and 21st, from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon. We need you to register ASAP so we can plan accordingly for crafts and supplies. We also need volunteers to help during VBS. Call the office if you re interested in helping us out. 4 FAITH COMMUNITY NEWS YOUTH MINISTRY / CONFIRMATION COORDINATOR Sister parishes, SS. Charles & Helena in Clio and St. Francis Xavier in Otisville seeks an enthusiastic, creative, committed person to serve as the Coordinator of Youth Ministry/Confirmation. This is a part-time position consisting of 19 hours per week. To view a complete job description and apply for this position, please go to and submit a resume and cover letter. BUSINESS MANAGER POSITION SS. Charles & Helena and St. Francis Xavier, sister parishes, are seeking a Business Manager for 29 hours a week. You must be a practicing Catholic. Responsible for assisting the Pastor in the stewardship of parish finances. Responsibilities include: cash management, account analysis, quarterly/annual financial statements, processing payroll, maintaining employee benefits and personnel files, and oversees management of facilities. Additional duties include supervising secretaries, bookkeeper, and maintenance staff of both parishes. Works in close collaboration with the Pastor and Finance Council. To view the job description and apply for the position go to VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER & MASS Wednesday, June 27th, is our annual volunteer appreciation dinner and Mass. Mass will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner in our parish center at 6:45 p.m. We encourage all our wonderful volunteers to join us. Please RSVP your spot by calling the office no later than Friday, June 22nd. Make sure to include the number in your party to help ensure we have an accurate count for dinner. We look forward to seeing you there! DID YOU KNOW... SS. Charles and Helena has a food pantry that provides food and personal care items to families in the Clio area? Every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. parishioners volunteer to pack items for families in the parish center. This year 72 families have been served by YOUR food pantry. Thanks to everyone who donates food, time, or money. More volunteers, of all ages, are needed. Contact Deacon Ray at the parish center if you have questions or would like to volunteer. RAFFLE TICKETS The Raffle Ticket Committee is looking for someone to organize sales of our raffle tickets outside of our church. Currently, we are taking tickets to our sister parish, St. Francis Xavier and the Blueberry Festival in Montrose, and are interested in including VG s, Walmart, and other area business. This is one of our parish s biggest fundraisers. Monies received help with various projects within our parish. If interested, please contact Lisa at Let Us Pray For Carolyn Vandecar who is in need of our healing prayers. May God heal her in body and in spirit. NEXT 2 NEW SALE We are now accepting donations of the following items: Housewares, toys, glassware, books, tools, holiday décor, linens, small electronics, CD s/dvd s, jewelry, nic nacs, baskets, purses, clothing, craft items, and puzzles. Clothes, books and movies can be dropped off in the parish center in the St. Thomas Aquinas room (4th grade classroom). All other items must be dropped off at the garage behind the church. Hours for drop off are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon and 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Items not accepted: heavy furniture, large appliances, televisions. This week we reached 78% of our DSA goal. Thus far 232 families have contributed to the year s appeal in the amount of $38, I am grateful for these contributions and invite others to join me, and join together as a parish, to push us over our goal for the benefit of our parish and the wider church.
