They are always fresh cut flowers, replaced weekly. You can help with the cost involved by using the floral arrangements to honor the living or memorialize the dead. An acknowledgment of those being honored or memorialized and also the name of those arranging it will be placed in the bulletin each week. A similar arrangement can be made for the Sanctuary Candles. We act through our members to support, empower and educate Catholic women in spirituality, leadership, and service. CCW consists of more than 5000 affiliated Catholic women s organization in parishes and diocese throughout the USA representing hundreds of thousands of Catholic women. We are recognized by the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) We support vocations for our priests, deacons and seminarians by contributing to the Burse Fund and education for our future nuns through the Purse Fund. We have a powerful voice at Catholic Days at the Capitol where we meet with our legislators to discuss issues central to our Catholic teachings, ethics and morals. Locally we help to support St. Christopher, St. Vincent de Paul Society; CCD s First Communion Classes; Hope Rural School; Hugs For the Homeless and Catholic High School Scholarship Fund. Internationally we support Catholic Relief Services and Water For Life project. We would be honored to welcome YOU to the Saint Christopher Council of Catholic Women!! Parish Lenten Mission MARK YOUR CALENDARS We are very pleased to announce our Parish Lenten Mission will be given by Fr. Joe McDonald. March 11, 12, and 13, Two sessions: 9:00am with Mass and 7:00pm with Mass. FRESH ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS During the course of our mission, we will, with the help of the Holy Spirit, glimpse Jesus afresh. Monday, March 11: Jesus, and the Five Kings Tuesday, March 12: Jesus, Source of Disturbance Wednesday, March 13: Jesus Cooks Breakfast LENTEN DEVOTIONS The Stations of the Cross will be prayed weekly during Lent, immediately following the 9:00 am Mass on Fridays. There will be a Holy Hour on the Thursdays of Lent, beginning after the 9:00 am Mass and concluding at 10:30 am. The specific prayer intention of this Hoy Hour is for Vocations to the Priesthood and to the Religious Life.

5 First Reading, Sirach 27:4 7 In his conversation is the test of the man. Responsorial Psalm, Psalm 92: 2 3,13 16 The just shall flourish like a palm tree. Second Reading, 1 Corinthians 15: Thanks be to God who has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Gospel Reading, Luke 6:39 45 Each tree is known by its yield. The third and final section of Luke s Sermon on the Plain begins: And he told them a parable. There are actually four parables, three of which we read today. They are all about how to be a good disciple. The blind cannot lead the blind. And a disciple cannot be a good disciple unless he or she has learned from the teacher. Everyone who is fully trained is like the teacher who knows how to cure the blind. Before you can be a good disciple and teach others you must take care of yourself. Do not try to take a speck out of your brother s eye until you have taken the board out of your own. Finally, only when you have purified yourself can you produce the good works that the teacher requires. Discipleship asks us to produce good deeds. But to produce them requires the integrity and purity of heart found in the teacher. When people see your good deeds they will know that this is because you have a good heart. The final parable, which we do not read today, is about building on the solid foundation of rock and not on sand. This is the only way to face the difficulties a disciple will encounter and survive. Ash Wednesda March 6 Mass Schedule 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, and 6:00pm Lenten Regulations Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age through age 59. On a fast day one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted but liquids are allowed. Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted. Fasting alms iving and prayer are the three disciplines of Lent. The faithful should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter.

St. Patrick s Day Concert Our St. Patrick s Day Concert will take place on Thursday, March 14th at 2:00pm doors will open approximately 1:15pm. $20.00 admission at the door, no advance ticket sales. Appearing will be mother & son duo, Kathy and Andreas Durkin direct from Ireland, master accordionist Michael O Rourke from County New York, and the Tir Na Greine Irish Dance - Jigs, Reels, and Horn Pipes. Thursday, March 14 at 2:00pm Special Guest will be Fr. Aidan Hynes of County Sligo, who will sing the classic Irish songs such as Galway Bay, Danny Boy, Mother MacNeil, My Wild Irish Rose, etc. He will also lead a great sing-a-long of popular songs such as East Side West Side, Sweet Rosie O Grady, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Peggy O Neill...
