We all received Ashes with good inten ons but we may be having a hard me ge ng started. It s not too late. We s ll have three more weeks to make the most of this wonderful season. The sign in front of the Church says Come Home for Lent. It s an open invita on to those who have wandered away from us to come home again. We all have rela ves and friends and neighbors who used to be with us all the me. It would be a great Lenten exercise to extend a gen le, warm invita on to them to join us for worship. We ve been praying at every Mass to Our Lady of Guadalupe for this very inten on. We ve lost a lot of people in recent years but they haven t gone far. They re members of our families; they re s ll our friends and our neighbors. Let them know that they re missed and that they ll always find a warm welcome here. Just a reminder that we have an ac ve Ministry to the Sick and Homebound. If you have someone sick at home or unable to get to Church, please call the Parish Office. We d love to visit them and share the Sacraments with them. God Bless, Msg. Prus The Altar Bread and Wine is Offered for Cesira & Giuseppe Petrucci The Sanctuary Candle burns before the Blessed Sacrament for Jeanette Juan 1

Checchio will celebrate the Chrism Mass with the priests of the Diocese. At this Mass, the Bishop will bless the Holy Oils which each parish receives for the rites of anoin ng. Saint Ambrose ( ) began this custom which we now call the Chrism Mass in his Cathedral in Milan. These Holy Oils, which are used to sanc fy the Faithful, have been channels of holiness for centuries! The Oil of Catechumens is used to anoint infants and adults before their Bap sms; the Oil of the Sick is used on the forehead and hands of the infirm in the Sacrament of the Anoin ng of the Sick; and Sacred Chrism is used to anoint the head of the newly bap zed, the foreheads of confirmandi, the hands of a priest at his ordina on, the head of a bishop at his ordina on, and the altar and walls of new churches. At the Mass, all priests make a Renewal of Commitment to Priestly Service, recommi ng themselves to their Bishop and to their ministry to God and His People; the Bishop and all Priests then ask the people for a pledge of their prayerful support. All are strongly encouraged to join in the ancient, grace-filled Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen at 4:00 p.m. St. Mary Byzan ne Catholic Church to Resume the Slavic Dinner Wednesday, April 10, 2019 The dinner will be held in the St. Mary Parish Center 1900 Brooks Boulevard Hillsborough, NJ Dinner includes all you can eat Pirohi, Stuffed Cabbage, Kielbasa and Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, Salad, Dessert and Beverage.
