HOLY FATHER S INTENTIONS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER Please keep the following intentions in your prayers Universal: That the countries which take in a great number of displaced persons and refugees may find support for their efforts which show solidarity. Evangelization: That within parishes, priests and lay people may collaborate in service to the community without giving in to the temptation of discouragement. SAINTS CORNER St. John Berchmans John Berchmans was born 13 March 1599, in the city of Diest situated in what is now the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant, the son of a shoemaker. His parents were John Charles and Elizabeth Berchmans.He was the oldest of five children and at baptism was named John in honor of St. John the Baptist. He grew up in an atmosphere of political turmoil caused by a religious war between the Catholic and Protestant parts of the Low Countries.When he was age nine, his mother was stricken with a very long and a very serious illness. John would pass several hours each day by her bedside. He early wanted to be a priest, and when thirteen became a servant in the household of one of the Cathedral canons at Malines, John Froymont. In 1615, he entered the newly founded Jesuit College at Malines, and the following year became a Jesuit novice. St. John Berchmans took as his spiritual model his fellow Jesuit St. Aloysius of Gonzaga and he was also influenced by the example of the English Jesuit martyrs. It was his realistic appreciation for the value of ordinary things, a characteristic of the Flemish mystical tradition, that constituted his holiness. He had a special devotion to God's Mother; and to him is owed the Little Rosary of the Immaculate Conception. John Berchmans was not noted for extraordinary feats of holiness or austerity, nor did he found orders or churches or work flashy miracles. He made kindness, courtesy, and constant fidelity an important part of his holiness. The path to holiness can lie in the ordinary rather than the extraordinary. He was sent to Rome in 1618 to continue his studies, and was known for his diligence and piety, impressing all with his holiness and stress on perfection in little things. He died there on August 13. Many miracles were attributed to him after his death, and he was canonized in He is the patron of altar boys. His feast day is November 26.

Our Lady of Rosary was with us. Thanks to His Grace, almost around 150 participated the VIGIL. Thanks to all those who had joined the night of Blessings and to all who set it up. Special mention for flowers by Soniya Breeze, for all who coordinated the hours of Grace and to the core group and Joseph and Neena. All the Holy Doors in Cathedrals and designated churches throughout the world opened to pilgrims. Door of Mercy Plenary indulgence: Pass through the doors of mercy of the pilgrimage church. Make a profession of faith in the church (either the Apostles or Nicene Creed). Pray for the pope s intentions and the pope himself. Meditate on mercy while receiving Communion during a period either 20 days before or after visiting the pilgrimage church. Participate in the sacrament of penance during a period either 20 days before or after visiting the pilgrimage church.
