Likewise, parishioners are encouraged to use the Sunday collection envelopes. We invite you to register at the Rectory Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. or complete a registration form, found in Church, and drop off at the Rectory. Vocations Are you being called to the Priesthood or Religious Life? Speak with a Priest or Religious or contact the Vocation Office at or vocations@diobrook.org. Baptisms Usually, on the second Sunday of the month at 12:15 p.m. Parents wishing to have their child baptized must attend a class prior to the Baptism. Classes are usually held the first Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m.. Please call the Rectory to register. Marriages Arrangements must be made with the Priest at least 6 months prior to the wedding. One party should be a parishioner. For information on pre-cana, visit Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Instructions for non-catholic adults interested in becoming Catholics are held during the year. Instructions for Catholics who have not received the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation are also given. EYEWITNESSES Today, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, is a day of eyewitness accounts. The first, a vision reported by the prophet Daniel, was well known to Jesus and his apostles. The vision account was written in quite mystical and figurative language. It is a vision of heaven, powerful and memorable. There are flames of fire, burning wheels, the Ancient One, and a Son of Man. Clearly, Daniel saw something. But was it a dream? Was it real? Was it merely a clever myth? Peter wants no such confusion about his vision! We are told in Matthew s Gospel what he and his friends James and John saw when they went up on the mountain with Jesus one day. Jesus warned the three witnesses to tell no one until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead (Matthew 17:9). Lest readers of one of the Gospels discount the story or simply write it off as a pious myth, Peter gives his own account of the Transfiguration of Jesus in his second letter to the church. He writes with authority, as an eyewitness. He reports this message from God concerning Jesus: This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased, and he assures us that the message is altogether reliable (2 Peter 1:17, 19). -Copyright J. Deva next weekend August 12 th & 13 th The Diocese of Sultanpet, was newly established by our Holy Father Francis in December 2013 in the District of Palakkad in the region of Kerala in South India. There are now 23 major Parishes with a population of nearly 31,600 Latin Rite Catholics. Offering opportunities and facilities toward basic education and creating awareness and rehabilitation to the poverty stricken and orphan children in the Diocese are all the urgent responsibility of the Diocese. They also have the great responsibility to support 35 Seminarians. The Diocese also needs new Churches to be built. Therefore, we request your kind generosity at the Special Mission door Collection after all Masses next weekend August 12 th & 13 th.
