Join us at our 11 am Mass followed by our Honor Roll Call & Flag Retirement Ceremony in the Church Courtyard. Dear Parish Family, We gather, the children of God, week after week, doing our best to live like God's children, to love one another like a family. We do so with good intentions and varying degrees of success. Today we learn how to love from the source of all love: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Most Holy Trinity! Their perfect and unconditional love for each other and for all of us must be the model for our love. If not all our efforts, even with good intentions, will be in vain. Let's pray that we will be filled with the love that comes from the Holy Trinity. May our parish be a celebration of their love. As we observe Memorial Day, let us express our gratitude to all the military veterans in our community, our prayerful support for the men and women in the Armed Forces, and a special remembrance of those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. We will have our annual Memorial Day Service in the courtyard after the 11:00 Mass. Congratulations to all of our young people confirmed by Bishop Cisneros last Saturday evening and to those who were confirmed at the 11:00 Mass on Sunday. I hope you will all stay close to Jesus and the Church and be active members of our parish family. Next Sunday is the Feast of Corpus Christi, the great celebration of the Body and Blood of Christ, the center of our lives. I invite everyone to join us for the 11:00 Mass and the procession afterward. We will have Benediction in the courtyard, in the rectory lot, and on the main portico of the Church. If you would like to decorate one of the altars or donate flowers, please contact the rectory as soon as possible. We would like to have as many people as possible to participate in the procession. Join the choir, the Knights of Columbus, our 1st Communicants, Confirmandi, the newly initiated from the Easter Vigil, and the Prayer Group in this wonderful public witness to our love for Jesus in the Eucharist and our belief in his Real Presence. More details next week. Sunday, June 3, is the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. It is a great tradition in the church to celebrate the day with a Procession and Benediction at a number of outside altars. It would be great to have the presence of our 1st Communicants and Confirmandi and all of our parish groups. The procession would take place after the 11:00 Mass with 3 altars along the way. We hope that a number of groups or groups of friends would prepare and decorate the altars for benediction with flowers, flags, and other decorations. Please think about it. BRENDAN ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH May 27, 2018 LA RESPONSABILIDAD DE NUESTRA FE Hoy es un día para reflexionar sobre el hecho de que en el Bautismo, Dios Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo nos hizo hijos suyos. La primera lectura del Deuteronomio nos insta a anclar en nuestro corazón la verdad de que Dios es el Señor del cielo y de la tierra y que no hay otro dios. San Pablo nos recuerda que, al haber recibido el Espíritu de adopción en el Bautismo, ahora somos hijos de Dios. En el Evangelio Jesús nos encomienda la responsabilidad de encontrar más discípulos. Estas realidades hacen de la solemnidad de hoy un día de alabanza, adoración y responsabilidad. Es un día apropiado para agradecerle a Dios el generoso regalo de la fe que recibimos en el Bautismo. También es un día para pedirle a Dios fortaleza para asumir la responsabilidad de compartir esa fe con los demás. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE La mayoría de los cristianos fuimos bautizados en nuestra infancia o niñez en nombre de la Santísima Trinidad; es por eso que continuamente hay que recordar y aceptar nuestro bautismo y el reto de vivir según el Espíritu de Jesús como hijos e hijas de Dios. Esto se hace cada vez que nos persignamos o santiguamos con la señal de la santa cruz. Así mismo, nuestra fe y religión cristiana esta fundamentada en la Santísima Trinidad y cada persona que entra en nuestra familia tiene que pasar por la cruz y la resurrección. La señal de la cruz la trazamos en nuestro cuerpo desde la frente hasta nuestro vientre; del hombro derecho al hombro izquierdo poniendo nuestro corazón casi al centro de este misterio. Muchos latinos terminan la señal poniendo el pulgar sobre el índice en forma de cruz y besándola confirmando el amor que nosotros tenemos por la cruz de Jesús y el hecho que cargamos en nuestros cuerpos el efecto de esa cruz, la reconciliación con Dios. Recordamos con esta señal nuestro bautismo muriendo a una vida de pecado y renaciendo por el Espíritu a una vida nueva en Cristo, para la gloria de Dios Padre. Spanish Baptisms are celebrated on the fourth Saturday of the month. All Baptisms are celebrated at 12 Noon. Arrangements must be made in advance with a member of the Pastoral Staff. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS is a process for adults who wish to be baptized into the Catholic faith. Information about this program, or about reception of First Eucharist and Confirmation for adults, is available at the Rectory. MARRIAGES: Arrangements should be made at least six months in advance and participation in the Diocesan Pre- Cana Program is required. Offering is $500 with or without music. SICK AND HOMEBOUND: Eucharistic Ministers are available to bring Holy Communion to those unable to come to Mass. In the event of serious illness please request the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. PARISH REGISTRATION: All parishioners are asked to register so that we may know you and provide reference letters when necessary.
