3 Annunciation Parish Daly Notes On January 2 nd, we received word that Pope Francis has named nine priests of the Archdiocese of Hartford monsignors. The honors will be conferred during a prayer service on Sunday, Feb. 24th at 4 p.m. at Saint Thomas Chapel at the Pastoral Center in Bloomfield (tickets required- seating limited). Diocesan priests receive the honorary title in recognition for their many years of distinguished priestly service, and as a sign of their communion with the pope and his apostolic ministry. As we announced, Father Kinnane is among those being honored. Father Kinnane has worked for more than fifty years in the Metropolitan Marriage Tribunal. Since most of us cannot attend the prayer service next month, we will have a reception to honor Father Kinnane in early March. THANK YOU FROM THE KNIGHTS A sincere thank you to all that supported the Knight s Pancake Breakfast last month. It was a very big success! We are happy to report that after the breakfast, we were able to give each of our two Seminarians a monetary gift; and the remaining money - $ was donated to the Church. The Knight s Sandwich Ministry would like to thank you for your generosity. We donated over 400 sandwiches to Immaculate Conception Shelter in Hartford. As always, they were very grateful. Our next collections are Sunday, January 20th and February 17th at 4:30 p.m. in the Saint Mary School Parking Lot. Thank you to all for your ongoing support of these activities. They allow us to make donations to these very worthy causes. Happy New Year!! 9 The Baptism of the Lord, January 13, 2019 Jan 13 th Baptism of the Lord Lord, I believe that You are the Son of the Eternal Father and the Savior of the World. I believe that You have brought about a new era of grace and truth and that I am called to follow You In His baptism, Jesus shows His solidarity with us, with our efforts to convert and to be rid of our selfishness, to break away from our sins in order to tell us that if we accept Him in our life He can uplift us and lead us to the heights of God the Father. Homily of Pope Benedict XVI on feast of the Baptism of the Lord Moreover, Jesus shows His complete submission to the will of His Father. Pray for those who are discerning a call to live their baptismal commitment as priests, brothers, or sisters. If you feel a call to religious life, call Fr. Michael Casey, Director of Vocations, Archdiocesan Pastoral Center, Tel , or vocations@aohct.org or visit the web at wherever You lead. As we begin this liturgical season of Ordinary Time, may it be a time of extraordinary grace in which I daily heed Your voice. Jesus, I trust in You.
