WEEKLY REFLECTION This night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong? Luke 12:20. Throughout the course of our lives, each of us truly desire to be happy and to make a difference in the lives of others. We struggle at times to truly live out our faith. At times, we don t quite experience the happiness we desire or don t seem to be making as great of an impact on the lives of others. Our Gospel message and readings this week challenge us to really spend some time in prayer and to ask ourselves, what do I want out of life? Where am I putting focus and what types of treasure am I really seeking? We need from time to time to ask ourselves some tough questions. We really need to ponder, how do I give of my time, talent, and treasure to others for the greater Glory of God? As the Gospel reminds us today, there will be a moment when our life will be demanded of us. When we are called home to be with God forever, what will we have left behind? Did we prepare ourselves by making a difference in the life of others? Mother Teresa once said, Intense love does not measure, it just gives. Let us each give and keep on giving of all we have. Even if no one appreciates it or others don t give what we think they should give! God sees what we give and what we do, so let God be the one whom we please. After all, it is only God who can provide us the happiness we desire and the guidance we need to make a difference in the lives of others! In this spirit of gratitude and generosity, I would like to thank those who have contributed to our Diocesan Development Fund Many have pledged and so I encourage you all to meet your pledges. If you still haven t participated and you feel this call to give, it s not too late. Check with the parish office to see how you can participate. We are almost there, so let us truly give in gratitude, for our God as first blessed us! -Fr. RCIA Team Fr. Erik is once again looking for new and previous RCIA team members to ready themselves for a new year together. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a wonderful ministry that serves to welcome individuals into full communion within the Catholic Church. There are so many ways to serve whether as a hospitality minister, facilitator, or presenter of faith topics. Depending on your gifts there is an opportunity for you to CCD/CYM Registration Registration for the Religious Education year will begin on Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Religious Education Office between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Registration fees are $50 for CCD children and $75.00 for CYM students. A $20.00 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED. Young Adult Annual Beach Day! Sat. RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and it serves as a journey into full initiation into the Catholic faith. The RCIA is for those who are unbaptized, for those baptized in another Christian faith tradition who wishes to be confirmed in the Catholic faith and for those who may have been baptized in the Catholic Church but have had no continuing education or sacramental formation. St. Joseph community welcomes you with open arms and looks forward to the journey with you, your family member or friend. We will begin another year together beginning in September.
