It is taken from the end of Jesus teaching in Jerusalem immediately preceding the account of his arrest and passion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to sustain them through his passion and death and any persecution or suffering that they would encounter after his resurrection. The words from the book of Daniel also provided hope and encouragement to the people of Daniel s time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Followers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful hope, knowing that Christ s love will lead us along the way of discipleship and give us eternal life with God. Copyright, J. S. WE CAN DO IT! The Diaconate Ordination of Alex Gamino! St. Joseph s Parish will be sending a bus to the Diaconate Ordination of Alex Gamino on Saturday, December 19th, 2009 in Yucaipa, Ca. The bus will depart St. Joseph s at 7:00 AM and leave Yucaipa at 12 noon. We will not be stopping for lunch so bring a sack lunch to eat on the return trip. Seats on the bus will cost $20.00 If you would like to reserve a seat, please stop by the Parish Office and ask to speak with either Kathy or Renee. Important! Data submitted to the National Religious retirement Office reveals that the average annual cost of care for women and men religious age 70 and over has more than doubled since Current statistics put this figure at $35,077 per person annually, with skilled care reaching nearly $ Your donation to the Retirement Fund for Religious provides critical support to religious institutes in meeting the escalating costs of elder care. Please pray for all religious and give generously to today s second collection. SOUP KITCHEN The Soup Kitchen will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner to the poor and homeless on Saturday, November 21st, from 10 to 12. We will be in need of cooked and slicked turkeys, potatoes, relishes and vegetable plates, large cans of vegetables, cranberry sauce and desserts. If you are able to help us with any of these items, please bring the non-perishable items to the Church office during the week and your hot or cold perishables to Noonan Hall on Saturday the 21st between 8AM and 9:30. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Según el Calendario Azteca, las profecías de Nostradamus y el pronóstico de una súper computadora, el mundo que conocemos va terminarse el 21 de Diciembre del año No sé a qué hora... pero si alguien sabe, favor de avisarme. Durante siglos los seres humanos han estudiado las estrellas, buscado señales y escudriñando la Sagrada Escritura para así descubrir cuándo el mundo llegará a su final. Los discípulos de Cristo también quieren saber eso mismo: Dinos cuándo sucederá la gran destrucción y cuál será la señal de que ya están por cumplirse todas estas cosas (Marcos 13:3). Jesús responde con varios signos de los tiempos: guerras, terremotos, hambre, persecuciones, etcétera. Como bien sabemos, estas cosas suceden en cada generación. A fin de cuentas, Jesús dice que ni los ángeles, ni él mismo saben el día o la hora del fin del mundo (Mateo 24:36), por tal motivo, hay que estar siempre en vela, haciendo la voluntad de Dios. Si estamos obrando el bien y promoviendo el Evangelio de Cristo, no importa que se acabe el mundo.
