2 What I really want to say... Strategic planning was one important part of our church s Transformation Budget, funded with proceeds of the sale of the activity center. Last Saturday the Executive Committee had a great morning of strategizing with consultant, Dan Hotchkiss. The committee was in agreement that our congregation is poised for growth as an inclusive community of independent, thinking Christians who are willing to be challenged by our faith and by one another. We explored ways to get our message of inclusion and welcome to those looking for a spiritual home throughout the metro area. We also agreed it was important for us to work collaboratively with our staff to create a culture of growth. There is much that our lay leadership needs to learn in order to be the best possible partners with our staff. Our leadership must speak with one voice around our capacities for growth - physical, organizational, and spiritual, as well as barriers and roadblocks that might inhibit such growth. On Sunday, Dan provided a debrief of our work for the Administrative Council. We are excited about the future of Community Christian Church. We intend to reach out through our Caring Circles, interest groups, Sunday school classes and the general membership to solicit the ideas and aspirations of our congregation. We invite everyone to be engaged in this initiative. It s a very exciting time to be Community. Blessings, Jan marcason Moderator PS. On Sunday, November 12th, the Administrative Council will meet to (hopefully) approve a 2018 budget and nominating slate. Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard over the last few weeks to help prepare for 2018 to be a year of transformation for our congregation and our community! 7 Scripture for Sunday, November 12 Say: The scripture reading today is Amos 5:14-15, (CEB) Listen for God to speak: Seek good and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of heavenly forces, will be with you just as you have said. Hate evil, love good, and establish justice at the city gate. Perhaps the Lord God of heavenly forces will be gracious to what is left of Joseph. OVER ->
8 I hate, I reject your festivals; I don t enjoy your joyous assemblies. If you bring me your entirely burned offerings and gifts of food I won t be pleased; I won t even look at your offerings of well-fed animals. Take away the noise of your songs; I won t listen to the melody of your harps. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Reader: The Word of God for the people of God. Community: Thanks be to God.
