2 Christ is born! Христос Раждається! Beloved of st. mary's parish, This past weekend truly was monumental for we marked 100 years of sacred heart High School. Bishop Bryan, Fr Ray and I celebrated the Liturgy of thanksgiving here at St. Mary's, followed by a wonderful banquet to honor all those who have been and are actively involved in this precious school. Special appreciation and thanksgiving were extended to all the sisters servants who dedicated their lives to this great Catholic educational institution. Over the years so very many people have given of their time and energy and their love to ensure Sacred Heart's success... As I warmly thought of them, I wish to share a delightful piece of prose entitled: tater people Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work. They are called Spec Taters Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work. They are called Comment Taters. Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don't want to soil their own hands. They are called Dick Taters. Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or too sweet. They are called Agie Taters. Some people always say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help. They are Hezzie Taters. Some people can put up a wonderful front and often pretend to be someone they really are not. They are called Emma Taters. Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others. They are called sweet taters. Happily here in St. Mary's, we are blessed with many Sweet Taters who volunteer their time, talent and treasure to ensure that programs and projects and Prayer become a living reality and I personally thank each of them with my whole heart and soul. During the 5:00 pm Divine Liturgy, as we also all celebrate and pray together, we also wish to acknowledge all the committed individuals from near and far who faithfully participated in our adult lay Formation program these past 10 months. We are planning to commence this excellent program again in March so please consider signing up and enjoy a wonderful journey of faith! God bless all of St. Mary's... Deputy Premier and Minister of Education Don Morgan has stated that amalgamating school divisions and eliminating elected boards of education, and replacing them with government appointed boards, are possibilities. A recently released report is available at Locally elected boards are accountable to the electorate and help hold the provincial government to account. They are important advocates for ensuring excellence in education. Who better to serve the needs of students which are unique to each division, and even each school within divisions than those elected by our community to represent our community?
