Sacrament of Baptism Upon the birth of their child, parents are asked to contact the Parish Office for orientation and to register for the required Parents and Godparents Baptismal Preparation Session. The sessions are held on the 2 nd Saturday of the month at 10:30am in the Church. Baptisms are celebrated at 1:00pm on the first and third Sundays of the month following the 12noon Mass. Sacrament of Marriage Couples must be registered, active members of the parish and are asked to begin preparation at least one year prior to the planned wedding date. It is advisable for couples to contact the Parish Office before other arrangements are made for the Wedding Day. Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick/Visitation of the Sick The Anointing of the Sick is available to seriously ill members of our Parish either at home or in the hospital. Please call the Parish Office to make arrangements. For legal reasons, many hospitals no longer inform parishes when a hospitalized parishioner would like a parish visit. Please contact the Parish Office of any homebound persons who would like to receive Holy Communion regularly. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a rite in the Church for adults to prepare to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist. If you or someone you know would like to become a Catholic, please contact the Parish Office. Parish Registration We welcome you to the Saint Ann Parish Family and invite you to register with us by filling out a form either by contacting our Parish Office or on the website. Parish Registration is required for Baptisms, Religious Education Programs and to attend Hoboken Catholic Academy. We urge all parishioners to make regular use of the envelopes. If you are moving from the Parish, please notify the Parish Office.

3 SCRIPTURAL REFLECTION May 13, 2018 Seventh Sunday of Easter Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 1John 4:15 Have you asked yourself: How strong is my faith? When I have an opportunity to either defend or clarify a question about our Catholic faith, do I do it? Or do I remain silent so that others don t think I am weird? As we prepare for the commemoration of the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday, let s pray for the courage to be strong in all circumstances and to share our witness with others. COME HOLY SPIRIT, open my heart, mind and soul to receive Your gifts and empower me to live and love like Jesus, especially in my day to day life! PRAYER for VOCATIONS Lord Jesus, we ask You to send more servants to Your people. Choose from our parishes, from our homes, from our schools and colleges, an abundant harvest of apostles for Your Kingdom: Priests, Sisters, Brothers, Deacons and Lay Ministers. 4 BLESSING PRAYER for MOTHERS DAY God of Love, listen to this prayer... God of Holy People, of Sarah, Ruth, and Rebekah; God of holy Elizabeth, mother of John, of Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, bend down Your ear to this request and Bless the mother of our family. Bless her with the strength of Your spirit, she who has taught her children how to stand and walk. Bless her with the melody of Your love, she who has shared how to speak, how to sing and how to pray to You. Bless her with a place at Your eternal dinner table, she who has fed and nurtured the life that was formed within her while still helpless but embraced in her love. Bless her today, now, in this lifetime, with good things, with health. Bless her with joy, love, laughter, and pride in her child/children and surround her with many good friends. May she who carried life in her womb be carried one day to Your divine embrace: there, for all eternity, to rejoice with her family and friends. This blessing and all grace, we pray, descend upon the mother of our family: in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. PRAY the HAIL MARY DAILY The Hail Mary, called the angelic salutation inspires fervent devotion to Jesus and His Blessed Mother and helps give people the graces, strength and spiritual protection they need. When we pray to Mary we are praying through Mary, asking her to intercede with God for us, on our behalf. Pray to our Mother, Mary daily, especially the HAIL MARY: Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with Thee; Blessed art Thou among women, And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, Now and at the hour of our death. Amen. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. Luke 2:51 The First Novena: The NOVENA to the HOLY SPIRIT The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, the Holy Spirit, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love needed by every Christian. The Novena for the SEVEN GIFTS of the HOLY SPIRIT begins on the day after the Solemnity of the Ascension, Friday of the 6th Week of Easter and completes on Pentecost. Beginning TODAY, pray everyday to the HOLY SPIRIT for an open heart to receive His gifts and to be empowered to use them to LIVE and LOVE like JESUS!! We have begun a beautiful ministry of prayer for vocations: Vocation Prayer Chalice. Who Is Family Promise: Family Promise of Hudson County is a non-profit that shelters homeless families within Hudson County. What Do They Do: They provide emergency places of shelter as well as case management and connection to resources. Their goal is to help families find sustainable and successful housing solutions. Why Do They Do It: Currently, there is no other emergency shelter in Hudson County that houses the whole family. Imagine a single father raising his children and he just can t make ends meet. Currently, our area has no way to keep them together. A mother raising an adult son with disabilities would be separated because on paper, they are single adults. Family Promise of Hudson County will be able to keep these families together and can work with them to find a sustainable way back on their feet. We Need You! Volunteers are an integral part of the Family Promise model. Volunteers are needed for shifts of cooking dinner to eating dinner with our guests, activities time and even sleeping over! There are options for all types of volunteers.
