Adopt a Grandparent for Christmas. Did you know that over 40% of residents in nursing homes never get a visitor? You can change that. For a $30 donation we deliver a beautiful gift of cream and lotion to help with dry skin and help prevent bed sores for an elderly resident. We visit Brandenburg Nursing and Rehab, sing carols and spend time with the residents. In the past, because of generous donations, we have been able to do both assisted living facilities in Brandenburg as well. Your gift is 100% tax deductible. Prayer Share Groups meet for 6 weeks during Lent and Advent. Study the scripture, pray and discuss our Catholic Faith. Our group will be helping pack and distribute holiday meal baskets to families in need around the community. We will meet in the School Building at St. Martin at 11:30am on December 16th. Permission forms are required for those wishing to help distribute. All youth in the 7-12th grades are encouraged to help! After we are done packing the baskets the teens are welcome to stay for open gym time until 2:30. Friday, December 21st: Youth Group Christmas Party! Join us from 6:30-8:30pm in the Parish Life Center at Saint Christopher Parish. Please bring a small wrapped gift worth no more than $10 for the white elephant game. Make sure to wear an ugly Christmas sweater! Monday, December 31st Tuesday, January 1st: New Year s Eve Dance service Project and Lock-in. Our youth in the 7th-12th grades will be providing Babysitting for the families at St. Martin s New Year s Eve Dance from 8:00pm-midnight. After the dance, teens in the 9th- 12th grades are invited to stay the night and celebrate the start of the New Year as a group! 4 Cemetery News Cemetery Main Gate is open 8:00AM-4:30PM Tuesdays through Friday and on Holidays. Call the parish office to schedule other times. If you have flowers on your loved one s headstone, please make sure they are presentable and in accordance with the Parish Cemetery Policy. To purchase plots, call Glenn Redmon, Rental/Building Use Parishioners may use the Gym, Parish Hall/Pavilion, Cafeteria for their personal events, who have a purpose in keeping with the mission of the Church. Availability of space in parish facilities is dictated by the parish schedule. Gym rental fee: $350.00(which includes liability insurance) and a $ damage deposit for renting the gym. Parish Hall/Pavilion or Cafeteria: there is no rental fee but there is a $ damage deposit and $95.00 liability insurance fee for renting the parish hall or cafeteria. A full rental policy will be given to you at the time of your rental. You must be 21 and sign a liability waiver. We now have the technology and ability to do genealogy research on Thursdays. If you don t have a pedigree chart (Family tree) on file in the archives, please come by and let us help you with it. We would like to have everyone in the parish represented in the archives. It is wonderful to know our ancestor s history. Now it is up to us to make sure that our descendants know our history. Community Outreach Nana s Room 6:00-7:30PM Wednesday You are invited to join in fellowship while helping others. We are open during Wednesday night formation for parents to stop by and help out. Many hands make light work. There is always something fun going on. Learn a new craft! Thanks for your generosity! Gail Ray Baby Quilts. On or after December 1 anyone with a baby born since January 1, 2016 please come in and pick up a free baby s quilt made from Nana s Room. If you are expecting now, please let us know if your baby is a girl or boy and the due date so we can have your quilt ready for the arrival of your little blessing! Prayer Blanket/Comfort Blanket. If you would like to learn how to make rosaries, we have plenty of supplies. Items being collected for the Homeless are flash lights, batteries, sterno canned heat/fuel, blankets Plastic bags are needed for the mats. Blue jeans any size or condition for quilts. Al-Anon meetings 6:30PM, each Thursday, in the downstairs classroom across the hall from the cafeteria. For information call Parking in back. Please use back door. Donations to Meade County Clothes Closet and Pantry will be collected. Please supply nonperishable food items with a non-expired date. Items can be left on the side altar under the St. Joseph statue. Third Sunday of Advent Today is Gaudete Sunday, when we shift our reflection from "the Lord is coming" to "the Lord is near." Rejoice as you light the pink candle on your Advent wreath.
