These 1000 days are our best opportunity to shape a healthier, more prosperous future for ALL children. Not of my flesh, nor of my bone, but still miraculously my own. SOCIAL SERVICES TREAT ME: In addition to your donations of new, trialsized hygiene items, such as lotion, shampoo, razors, underwear and socks, we also could use some good quality dog treats for both small and large breeds. Bring donations to weekend Mass, or during regular office hours, or to William Temple House we re there every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2023 NW Hoyt. We go ahead with our next international effort supporting life from March 1 to April 9. We ve seen God s hand at work as at least 12,668 lives have been saved! Go to to sign up to witness. They are a sign of hope, a sign of life, but also a diagnostic sign, a marker indicating the health of families, society and the entire world. Wherever children are accepted, loved, cared for and protected, the family is healthy, society is more healthy and the world is more human. Until July 1 st, Fr. Lucas will also serve as Pastor of St. Patrick Church in Northwest Portland. He also teaches theology to the seminarians at Mount Angel Seminary. He has a doctorate in theology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He is from Buenos Aires, Argentina and was ordained in He served as Newman Chaplain after Glenn Rymsza left and prior to Father Maximo. During those years, he would preside at the Noon Mass from time to time. For information on Father Lucas religious community, please visit their website: LENTEN REGULATIONS Lent began last week with Ash Wednesday and Conferral of Ashes at 7:15 A.M. at St. James Lutheran Church on the SW Park Blocks. The following are Lenten regulations/guidelines the Church asks during these holy 40 days of Lent. Abstinence Regulations All persons completing their 14 th year are bound by abstinence rules, i.e. no meat or meat by-products on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all Fridays of Lent. Fasting Regulations All persons completing their 14 th birthday up to the beginning of their 60 th year are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting allows only 1 full meal and 2 lighter meals in the course of a day, and prohibits eating between meals. Pregnant women those sick need not fast.
