2 November 27, 2016 ~ First Sunday of Advent ~Jesus Invites St. Joan of Arc Welcomes~ In today s Gospel Jesus tells us to be ready because, at an hour we do not expect, the Son of Man will come. Jesus spoke of the days of Noah and how people were oblivious to the impending great flood. The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. It occurred the day after Christmas off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. An undersea earthquake, with a magnitude of 9.3, launched a horrendous tsunami that sent 100-foothigh walls of water rushing landward and killing 230,000 people in 14 countries. Seismologists said that the event caused the entire planet to vibrate. Just like the people of Noah s time, the victims of that disaster did not expect that the sea would rise up and claim them. They were going about their normal lives unaware that great forces were about to be unleashed.
