RITA S A series of free lectures and performances presented each Friday of Lent at 7:30pm in St. Rita s Church FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20 AT 7:30PM God-Powered Art The artwork of Peter De Monte will be displayed in the church. Peter, at the age of 70, was divinely inspired to paint religious scenes inside seashells and use them as a way to evangelize about God. His work has been featured in the Staten Island Advance. Come and witness God s work. MEETING CHRIST IN EVERY DAY LIFE A LENTEN RETREAT OFFERED BY THE JESUIT COLLABORATIVE MANRESA COMPANIONS IN IGNATIAN SPIRITUALITY Join us on four Fridays in Lent for prayer, music, and reflection on Gospel passages, faith sharing and an introduction to Ignatian spirituality. It will be an excellent way to prepare for the celebration of the Paschal Mysteries of Holy Week and Easter. FRIDAY, MARCH 27 AT 7:30PM A Lenten Choral Meditation (Choir of Communion and Liberation) The Choir of Communion and Liberation, directed by Christopher Vath, is composed of high school and university students and adults. Their repertoire extends from Gregorian chant to the 20th century. The choir performs throughout the New York area and was chosen to sing for Pope Benedict XVI at St. Joseph s Seminary. They sing each year for the Way of the Cross over the Brooklyn Bridge on Good Friday. Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after each presentation, offering an opportunity to meet the presenters.

4 FIRST PENANCE Please pray for our second graders from St. Rita School and CCD who will be making their First Penance on Wednesday, February 4, FIRST COMMUNION PROMISE MASS The First Communion Promise Mass hosted by second grade St. Rita School and CCD students will take place next Sunday, February 8th at 9:30am. All parishioners are cordially invited to worship with us. ALTAR SERVERS St. Rita School and CCD students in the 6th, 7th or 8th grades wishing to become Altar Servers are asked to please call Mary Grace Liss at the parish office. Students are on placed on a team and serve every other weekend at the same assigned time. Altar Serving counts for Community Service. ST. RITA S LADIES GUILD St. Rita s Ladies Guild will gather for Mass on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 9:00am, followed by a meeting in the Parish Center. All women are cordially invited. For information call Marie Brech at COMMUMION AND LIBERATION WINTER VACATION High school students from the New York area will gather for a vacation which will include hiking, outdoor and indoor games, music, presentations and discussions as well as Mass. Father Veras will be among the priests and teachers leading the vacation/retreat. Date: February 13-16, 2015 The bus will depart form St. Rita s Church on Friday, February 13th at approximately 5:00pm and return on Monday evening at approximately 5:00pm.
