2 Dear Parishioners and Friends, God does not desire just ritual from us, He wants a loving rela onship with us! The four words He uses reveal how we should love God and neighbor to the best of our ability: HEART: the place of making choices. The heart is where we choose whether to love, and our decisions match that choice. SOUL: soul is translated in the Bible as life. It is the anima ng spirit that gives us life and energy. MIND: the place of thinking and understanding. It is where we intellectually choose God and make a choice to live His commands. STRENGTH: THE Greek word suggests ability or forcefulness. Recall the song when confronted with a choice, They will know we are Chris ans by our love. As the Gospel points out, rela onal love is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. God does not desire just ritual from us, He wants a loving rela onship! Throughout our journey of faith, we have come to recognize that God loves us with an everlas ng love. We, in turn, have responded by taking small steps that show we are loving God with our whole heart, with all our understanding, and with all our strength, and loving our neighbor as much as we love our self. Jesus tells us that this mission of love has the power to transform human society into the kingdom of harmony, peace, and jus ce. The Church teaches that the love of God and neighbor is the soul of sanc fica on, the soul of our journey of faith, and the source of prayer. Let us pray that the love of God and neighbor becomes more deeply rooted in our hearts, homes, neighborhood, country, and world. Star Community Home Outreach - St. Thomas the Apostle Help us reach out to the women and children who are living in the convent at Star of the Sea. The home provides temporary housing for women and children who find themselves homeless. Presently, there are about twelve families living in the home. Please help us provide cereal, peanut bu er, canned fruits and vegetables, tuna, and other non-perishable food items. Thank you for your support. JOB OPPORTUNITY St. Monica-St. Thomas the Apostle Parish is looking to employ a person who can prepare and produce the weekly bulle n. The responsibili es require that the person can formulate entries from brochures, edit the content, and create a camera-ready layout.
