PASTOR S PAGE FOR FEBRUARY 2019 FEBRUARY is the last full month of winter. We are hoping for good weather nevertheless. Let s see what is in store: Saturday, Feb.2, is Ground Hog's Day! Happy Ground Hog's Day to all! Sunday, Feb. 3, is the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany. This is Scout Sunday. Welcome to all our Scouts! It is also Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday. We will celebrate the Super Bowl by giving $1 or a can of soup to a local food ministry. Please help out the poor in our area. Thanks! Immediately after church, we will have coffee, juice, donuts, and cookies. Please, join us! We will be addressing valentines in Sunday School. If you know someone who needs one, please give name and address, if possible, and place it in the Caring Box. Enjoy the game in the evening! However, the Confirmation Class is meeting at Salem Church at the regular time. Monday, Feb. 4, Pastor Mark will preach at the Friendly Home, 10:00 a.m. Anyone is welcome to join him. Tuesday, Feb. 5, Consistory will meet at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, there will be a pastors' prayer meeting at Salem at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, is the SWEETHEART BANQUET at Salem Church at 5:00 p.m. The meal is a choice between ham or chicken. The tickets cost $15 each. We will sell around 100 tickets again this year. When they are gone, they are gone. So, get your tickets ASAP. Marilyn Headdings, Carol Snyder, Butch Heim, and Pastor Mark should have tickets. Our special music is MENDED HEART. You will not be disappointed! Sunday, Feb. 10 is Holy Communion at Salem Church. Please prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Sacrament. It is also the Fifth Sunday after Epiphany. We are finishing work on the Valentines in Sunday School. 1

2 Thursday, Feb. 14, is VALENTINE'S DAY! Be sure NOT to forget YOUR valentine so that you can stay out of the dog house! Friday, February 15, is the deadline for the March RUMBLINGS. Please have all your information to Rose Novinger by this date. Sunday, February 17, is the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany. Pastor Mark PARISH FACTS FUNERALS A funeral service for Anna C. Heim, age 96, was held at Salem Church on December 19, 2018 with Interment in Zion E.C. Cemetery in Pitman on the same date. She passed away on December 15, 2018 and was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Valley View, PA. We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends! A funeral service for Carol J. Brown, age 64, was held at Salem Church on December 21, 2018 with Interment in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax on the same date. She passed away on December 16, We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends! A funeral service for Charles H. Masser, age 82, was held at Salem Church on December 22, 2018 with Interment in Salem Cemetery on the same date. He passed away on December 16, He was a member of Salem Church. We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends! MEMORIAL SERVICE A memorial service for Dolores E. Kissinger Clark, age 72, was held at Salem Church on January 5, She passed away on December 20, 2018 and was a member of Salem Church. CHRISTMAS SEASON A BIG THANK YOU to Salem Church for hosting a beautiful Christmas Eve Service. The Sunday School Program was wonderful this year again. Thank you to all who helped! Both events were very well attended. Thanks to all the people who helped to decorate the church and to take down the decorations as well!
