6 YOUNG S U.M. ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD MINUTES JANUARY 9, 2018 Our meeting was called to order by Co-chairperson, Ed Bridge. Scripture I Chronicles 29:10-13 and prayer by Co-chairperson, Ed Bridge. Jayne Peters, Treasurer, presented the following report: November: December: Income: $12, Income: $10, Expenses: $9, Expenses: $10, Balance: $104, Balance: $105, Monies available December 31, 2017: $101, Voided check #1083 dated in April for $ was put back into treasury as the Philip May Ministries is no longer viable and the check was never cashed. A motion by Janetta Green, 2 nd by George Binger to accept treasurers report. Motion approved. Administrative Board Minutes of November 14, 2017, was accepted by observation. Motion by Jayne Peters, 2 nd by Lois Brownawell. Motion approved. Old Business 5.a. Jayne Peters reported that she was informed by Cocolamus Creek Disposal that the dumpster should be removed by January 13, b. The cost of the cabinet made by Jim and Josh Smith was close to $ and looks very nice. A motion by Janetta Green, 2 nd by George Binger to authorize them to build three more for the downstairs. Motion approved. 5.c. Lou Ann Williams reported that Ben will be getting the TV for the main area downstairs tomorrow. The cost was $ d. Jayne Peters reported that she sent the check for $ to Andy Gudeman, our missionary, for extra maintenance training. Pastor Travis reported that the Call Multiplier will be up and working by Friday, January 12 th. It will be self- explanatory. Hours to receive messages will be 9AM through 8PM. Sharon Dick upgraded to a Staples Plus plan for supplies. It is advised to contact Jim and Josh Smith regarding snow plowing. Please notify Jim and/or Josh if there is a meeting scheduled or a meeting cancellation. We also can contact Barry Peters and he will get message to them.

7 New business: 6.a. Pastor Travis reported that the PPR Committee re-nominated Randy Binger to serve as Class of Motion to accept by Jayne Peters, 2 nd by Lou Ann Williams. Approved. 7. Jayne Peters stated that Eric and Rachael Ness will not be receiving missionary funds as they are now living in North Carolina due to their children s needs. A motion by Tanya Binger, 2 nd by George Binger to divert the $ per month to Home Missions. Motion approved. 7.a. The church calendar for the hallway is on back order as by Jayne Peters. Also, we need to let Pastor Travis and Sharon Dick know of events at church. 7.b. Janetta Green asked about a higher faucet for the kitchen sink. Trustees will take care of it. 7.c. Missy Black stated that we served close to 500 children at CHRISTmas Treasures in Thanks to Missy for heading this committee for this year. Also, a thank you to George and Chris Binger for past years of service. Thanks also to Judy Oberman for heading the Live Nativity. These are two very important programs for our church. We also want to thank Todd and Judy Oberman and Ed and Kathy Bridge for the shopping they have done already for the 2018 CHRISTmas Treasures event. It is estimated that they have one/half of the toy shopping finished. 9. A motion by Eunice Sherman, 2 nd by George Binger to adjourn. Motion approved. Our closing prayer by Pastor Travis. Gathering Room Happenings Please join us for fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate every Sunday morning available from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. A new flex-age group (0-99) is meeting in the gathering room from 9:00 to 9:45 for conversation and small group discussion. EVERYONE is welcome!!! Each week is something different so no matter when you join us you will be current with the discussion and welcome to suggest topics/issues for discussion. 2nd Saturday Please join us for breakfast and a family fun activity for all ages as Michelle & Renee Dubaich teach us how to make Resurrection Eggs. We will be taking the eggs home with us and be able to easily tell the Easter story to our friends and family with the help of our eggs. Please bring along an empty egg carton and the eggs and other materials will be supplied. Please signup prior to the event so we have enough supplies for everyone. 9 College Boxes We will be collecting homemade goodies to send to our college students and those in the military for Valentine s Day. The 8 boxes will be located on the Communications Table. Please have your goodies in individual servings and place in the boxes by February 3, Can you feel the excitement in the air? It Souper Bowl time again!! We will be collecting cans of food for the food bank again this year. On Sunday, February 4, 2018, wear your favorite team apparel and help to support the Perry County Food Bank. 3:16 for Kids, Tweens and Teens formerly the SonShine Club 3:16 for Kids, Tweens and Teens (3:16) will be held every Monday evening at YUMC from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. A meal is served at 6:00, followed by a lesson rooted in scripture and designed to help kids, tweens and teens grow to be like Jesus. The lessons are designed to equip kids, tweens and teens with the character qualities they need to become the people God created them to be. 3:16 is open to kids, tweens and teens from both Young s and Shermans Dale churches. 10 Reflections Recently I read one of King David s prayers that he offered up to God our Heavenly Father. The prayer is found in the Old Testament Book of 1 Chronicles, Chapter 29. In this prayer, King David was thanking God for all the gold, silver, wood and various other building materials that had been collected to build God s Temple in Jerusalem. It was King David s intention to build the Temple and to provide a permanent home for the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord. However, David s personal ambitions were not to be. God spoke to David and said You shall not build a house for My Name because you are a man of war and have shed blood. (1 Chronicles 28:3). As a result, God appointed David s son, Solomon, to build the Temple. So, King David turned over the plans and the materials necessary to carry out this great project to his son Solomon. I am sure that this was a disappointment to King David, but it is evident that he was gracious about this change of plans and offered his son, Solomon words of encouragement in undertaking this massive project. In verse 20, David said to his son Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the House of the Lord is finished. King David goes on to offer a beautiful prayer of tanks and praise. It begins in verse 10 of Chapter 29: Blessed are you, O Lord God of Israel our Father forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victor and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth, Yours is the dominion, O Lord. Both riches and honor come from You and You rule overall and in Your hand is power and might. Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name for all things come from You. So, what is the moral of this story? Life doesn t always turn out the way we ve planned. We hit bumps on the road. A serious illness or injury sets us back, a loved one passes away, an unexpected expense arises and the list goes on and on. But maybe we can learn from King David s prayer and see God as our source of all. In good times and in bad times, He is still there for us and waiting to hear from us. Jesus loves us and knows us as a shepherd loves and knows his sheep. Jesus is with us each step of our journey, in good times and in bad times. Tell Him today that you are following Him no matter what lies ahead. Ed Bridge
