Besdes a typewrtt en report coverng several pages, Mnster Cooper had on desk a number of affdavts, pettons, etc, bearng on case. The only charge taken up by Board was that of strkng a pupl so that hs head struck a blackboar d, reby njurng hm to such an extent that boy was confned to hs bed for some days after. The statements of njured boy several of scholars were to effect that boy, who was at blackboard, was asked to spell word "conjuncton" defne t. He was unable to do er when Austn found that boy was defcent n knowledge he frst pushed hm n struck hm on back of neck, forcng hs head aganst blackboard n such a volent manner as to rase a large lump. The boy was sent to hs desk by Austn told to wrte troublemakn g word 00 tmes, when ths was accomplshed dose was repeated. At close of day boy went home, but sad nothng to hs parents, for fear of beng whpped agan. The next day he was too ll to attend school, on followng day Austn sent a polceman to hs home to look hm up. n road he found a horse nbblng at grass lyng unconscous n a feld adjonng was boy. When brought to hs senses he explaned that he remembered nothng pfrfallng from horse; hs head waspnnng around, after that all was a blank. The polceman took hm to school, Austn, some tme later, sent hm home. Then hs sege of llness began, Dr. Hugus was called n. The boy was delrous doctor pronounced t a case of congeston of bran. Dr. Hugus, havng to leave localty temporarly, case was gven to a Japanese for treatment. Austn secured a statement from latter to effect that dsease was bronchts. When ths statement was made, Austn dened truth of t, but sad that f all or any number of pupls verfed statement he would not deny t. Some of scholars testfed that Austn had got m to sgn papers to effect that he had not struck bov on a certan day, but when almanac was consulted t was found that day was one on whch polceman brought boy back to school. These were consdered rregular qute suffcent to warrant teachers dsmssal. The or charge aganst Austn, that of nsultng Mrs. Hart, was not dscussed n detal. The fact of hs tryng, by letter verbally, to defame character of woman was n tself censurable, but Commssoner Smth thought that re was enough aganst man wthout takng last charge nto consderaton.
