mornng shortly before noon from Guam and Mdjvay The vessel returned from a specal chartered trp to those two slamls n the nterest of the Commercal Pacfc Cable Company n every respect, the trp was uneventful The vessel went out to land the members of the varous cable staffs at Mdway and Guam and also dscharge supples and stores for the two statons The work was accomplshed n very short order and the entre program was carred out wthout dffculty So fne was the weather throughout the trp that Captan Pltz sad t could "not have been better had old Boreas prepared t under a specal order News of the U S S roquos was brought by the Hanale, but the steamer left Mdway before ether of the cable shps had reached that sland Only the roquos and a apanese schooner were at Mdway on une 2, the tme that the Hanale saled for Honolulu The Hanale left Honolulu the mornng of Aprl 23 She had aboard the members of the cable staffs fqcmdway and Guam statons, servants for those partes, and carpenters to erect offces and store houses for the cable statons and lvng quarters for the varous cable employeos A large quantty of lumber and varous materal for the purpose of constructng the varous houses was taken and food supples for a number of months were also taken The vessel experenced perfect weather throughout the run to Mdway She arrved at Mdway at 5 a jn of Aprl 29 There were no whte persons at the She would le at anchor nsde the reef n the day At nght she would steam outsde and le at anchor At 30 a m of May 5 the vessel fnshed dschargng and at 4:20 oclock the same afternoon she saled for Guam The weather was delghtful on the way to Guam The vessels tme was days, but as she crossed the 80th merdan, she lost a day, her date of arrval at Guam beng 3:30 p m of May 7 The steamer remaned at the
