Our Crusaders have accomplished a great deal through this past year and our accreditation plan has come to a close. We have focused our Catholic Identity Plan on the Cardinal Virtues through the past four years and have based our Crusader of the Month and our behavior skills on the Disciples of Christ Virtue Program. Our Academic Plan included expository writing skills which our teachers worked on through professional development with Frank Beichleman of Ohio State. We are very pleased to have completed our four - year program. Crusaders have participated in many field trips throughout this year. We have gone to the pumpkin patch, the Cathedral, the Works, Heartbeats, bowling, Holy Family Museum, Mass with the Bishop during Catholic Schools Week, Newark Catholic, Magic Mountain, Stacy s Buffet, and Sharon Brooke, the zoo, and retreats at St. Peter and Paul and NET Ministries. Our teachers have served on the Diocesan Office of Education committees for our new report cards using standards based education, and curriculum committees. They have also served on the education committee for the Columbus Zoo. Our school was chosen to help pilot Microsoft 365 for students in the Columbus Diocese. Our students successfully completed State Testing for language, math and the Terra Nova tests, as well as ACRE testing for religion. Ten incoming eighth graders have completed and passed Algebra pretesting. This is the largest group to have successfully passed testing to take high school Algebra in eighth grade for high school credit. Many Crusaders won individual awards in various areas. We are so very proud of all of our students. Blessed Sacrament School would like to welcome our new principal, Mr. Josh Caton, beginning next year. We look forward to his great leadership to help us be the best school that we can be! Everyone is very excited about his appointment! Tell everyone you know about our great school. We are accepting new students at all grade levels. Come and be a Crusader at the Little school making a Big difference! Call to take a tour and find out more. Spiritual Adoption Our parish is participating in a Spiritual Adoption Program until Christmas. We pray monthly for the unborn, for the mothers and fathers, and we will conclude in by honoring the birth of our Lord by donating baby gifts to Heartbeats. Month three: The baby can now squint, swallow and move his tongue. He sleeps and awakens. Fingernails and toenails form and he now has his own unique set of fingerprints. Sensitive to touch, he will tightly grasp an object placed in the palm of his hand. He breathes amniotic fluid to help develop and strengthen the respiratory system, but he gets the oxygen he needs through the umbilical cord. At the beginning of this month, just nine weeks after conception, he can suck his thumb. I can suck my thumb now! Prayer: Lord Jesus, You took our human nature upon Yourself and shared our life, death, childhood and adulthood. Lord Jesus, we ask You to bless and protect the children who are in their mothers womb. Save them from the danger of abortion. Give mothers the grace to sacrifice themselves in body and soul for their children. Help all people to recognize in the unborn child a brother, a sister, saved by You, our redeemer in the womb. Looking to volunteer your time and talents to help grow Blessed Sacrament s long term funding? Contact The Catholic Foundation about becoming a St. John Fisher Steward at or cmckay@catholicfoundation.org Bishop s Annual Appeal We have just completed our fourth week of the Bishop s Annual Appeal. PAUL THE APOSTLE CHURCH (LOWER LEVEL, ROOM 3) 313 NORTH STATE STREET, WESTERVILLE 43082» Listen to personal stories and local experts from government, finance, nonprofit and faith communities talk about how payday lending harms our neighbors in Central Ohio.»Tell your story and use your voice to advocate for changes in state laws to stop predatory lenders from exploiting our local communities.» Learn about the new St. Vincent de Paul Microloan Program working to provide an alternative to payday lending. When a family has nothing to eat, because it has to make payments to usurers, this is not Christian, it is not human. This dramatic scourge in our society harms the inviolable dignity of the human person. -Pope Francis SPONSORED BY: Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Vincent de Paul Microloan Program Vincentian Ohio Action Network Voice of the Poor
