1 BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Christ is Risen! The event of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate game-changer of history. Nothing is the same. Every year we celebrate Easter because we have something to truly celebrate. This is the greatest Christian Feast. It is the original feast that celebrates the original and most basic proclamation of our faith: Jesus is Risen! I invite you to enter more deeply into the joy of the Risen Lord this Easter. Today we celebrate truly the Light that conquers all darkness, the Love that is stronger than death, the Joy that no evil can destroy. From February 14-April 1: This has been a memorable Lent with Ash Wednesday beginning on Valentine s Day and Easter Sunday being celebrated on April Fools. The last time Lent began on Valentine s Day was Can we find some connections? Valentine s Day is all about love. There is no greater love than the love of Christ who has laid down his life for us! And, can t we say that the empty tomb was the ultimate April Fools? Death thought it had won a victory, was fooled into thinking that Life had been defeated, only to be conquered by the rising of Jesus Christ! We are called to be followers of Jesus Christ in all that we do and, through His work in our life, to help others become disciples as well. Save the Date! Blessed Sacrament Respect Life and Little Flower Showers (an outreach of St. Patrick s Respect Life Group) are joining together to bless a mom in a crisis pregnancy with a baby shower! Using the example of St. Thérèse, who while doing ordinary things showed extraordinary love, we hope to shower this mother with Christ s love by giving her a baby shower. A baby shower is one Little Way to encourage and support through her journey of motherhood. As this mom is showered we pray that little by little, flower by flower, a friendship begins to bloom. Little Flower Showers is reaching out to parishioners for help with this event. While our most urgent needs are a cake decorator and photographer, any and all help will be welcome. Around the Diocese Local Events of Interest Mary (Kane) Lefever Scholarship The Mary (Kane) Lefever Donor Advised Fund (DAF), funded by Chad, Rich and Katie (Fisher) Gummer, grandchildren of Mary (Kane) Lefever, are pleased to announce the availability of scholarships to financially assist students from catholic parishes in Newark and Heath, who wish to attend Newark Catholic High School.
