2 The Roundup Pastor s Corner As you read, this remember we are in the midst of an election in our nation. Our Baptist heritage holds to the separation of church and state and the need for religious freedom. I m thankful that our church holds to these beliefs. While I believe we are to be good citizens and should vote, I will never campaign for any person or party in our church. I believe we should pray for whomever wins this race and we should be praying for those who are elected to every office. I realize that elections bring anxiety and division in communities. My prayer is that we will always be people of peace and learn to handle our differences of opinions on all matters as the people of God. As we go about our days, may we remember that we are to be salt and light and encouragers to others. We should never lose a friend or harm a relationship over views of politics. I do believe though that we serve a greater power and our King is not of this earth. So as we go through this month, keep that in mind. Remember that no matter who sits in the Oval Office, there is a God above all and it is the Kingdom of God we serve first.
