PASTORAL ACTS PAULINE OLSEN joined our Lord in eternity March 23, A memorial service will be held in Alpena at a later date. JAMES STAFFORD joined our Lord in eternity April 5, His funeral service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 10. SHIRLEY JASKOLSKI joined our Lord in eternity April 17, Her funeral service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 21, ALICE STOPPA joined our Lord in eternity April 17, Her funeral service was held on April 25 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mother Dear Lord, I am grateful for the gift of motherhood. I do confess, however, that my many duties and cares for my family often leave me weary and worn out at the end of the day. At times I become irritable and fretful. I do not seem to have sufficient time for rest and for the relaxed association a mother needs with her husband and family. Give me the strength and health required to perform all of my obligations as a Christian mother. Fill me with deep affection for my husband and children. Grant our family Your Holy Spirit, so that we grow together from day to day in Your love and that we order and shape our lives with wisdom according to Your will. Make me a worthy example of a Christian mother, and let many see in our home the joy of a family in which father, mother, and children dwell together in Christ. Continue to assure me of Your grace through Christ, my Lord and Savior, who honored His mother in the very hour in which He gave His life on the cross for me and all men. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of children and motherhood. Amen. Lutheran Book of Prayer, Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Missouri

The 13 th National Scout Jamboree is held at Fort A.P. Hill, VA The 18 th World Scout Jamboree, The Future Starts Today, is held in Dronten, What is a Green Bar? The Green Bar is named for William Green-Bar Bill Hillcourt. Mr. Hillcourt wrote many resource books for Scouts, starting with handbooks for Scoutmasters and Patrol Leaders in the 1920 s. For the purpose of training Youth Leaders, the Troop Leaders Council takes on the aspect of a Patrol, with the Scoutmaster as its Patrol Leader, and the boy leaders as members. This is referred to as the Green Bar Patrol. As the Scouts achieve leadership positions Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, etc., they are entitled to wear a patch identifying their office. Those patches show green bars, denoting leadership position. That leadership of the Troop is, therefore, referred to as the Green Bar. May Calendar for Troop 92: May 4 th -6 th : Weekend activity. To be announced in near future May 6 th : Troop leaders meeting at 1:00 p.m. at Dennis Johnson s house May 10 th : Round table at Spratt Church May 14 th : Committee meeting, 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church May 20 th : Troop swim 4-5 p.m. at Alpena Plaza Pool May 28 th : Memorial Day Parade As I write this letter, we are looking forward to receiving and welcoming Webelos from Pack 3092, who will be crossing over into Boy Scouts on the evening of April 24 th. Troop 92 will attend the cross-over. We also congratulate Girl Scout Troops #992, #1033, and #2313 on celebrating 100 years of Scouting. I have noticed pictures of the Girl Scouts in The Alpena News and commend them for their participation in our community. It is wonderful to have so many young girls and boys active in Scouting. Our days are warming up and I see flowers blooming, and people working in their yards. Enjoy this month of May and say a prayer for those who can t get out to enjoy walking around, gardening, or just to enjoy the beauty around us. Please remember our dedicated service men and women who are serving our Country. Troop 92 wishes you a wonderful month and a safe and beautiful Memorial Day! Mary Cook, Committee Member of Troop 92
5 PROPERTY UPDATE Another opportunity for Property Committee to keep everyone informed on the progress being made as we maintain the church buildings; we are truly a blessed congregation: In late February, the property committee reviewed our list of project needs for the church property and came up with two items that we would try to implement over the coming months; those being: Usher Room - Stair Treading/Carpeting Computer System Upgrade Data Protection & Multi Purpose Wireless In the March newsletter you read about the needs for the Usher room and now a very short time later we are happy to report that the treading and carpeting are being installed soon. When a call was placed to Alpena Furniture to order the work, Steve Straley informed us that they were donating the entire project to the church; what a blessing for us! A heart felt THANK-YOU to Alpena Furniture for their contribution to their church; when you have the opportunity, please pass a thank-you on to them. that you can easily see, touch, or feel. Upgrading some of the system s components are vitally important however to protect our data and make internet access in our church building more user friendly. The project was defined and a cost estimate ($5,000) developed to cover the improvements needed. In early March, the Trust Committee provided funding for 40% of the project and Property Committee then committed to finding support for the rest of the project. Then came a gracious donation made In Memory of Jim Stafford; as a result of this, the project is now fully funded. Jim was an Engineer and a strong supporter/user of computer technology and this is a fitting tribute to Jim and his life s work and interest. Thanks to the family and friends of Jim Stafford. Thank You St. Paul Property Committee The computer upgrade project is something that is difficult for everyone to understand the needs because the technology in not something
