1 September 2, 2018 CHILDREN S CHURCH SEPTEMBER 2018 LESSON PLAN 1. I Am Fishers of Men The children will have 30 seconds to use a fishing rod made of a stick, string, and Velcro. They will have to get the balls with Velcro on them from one container to the other. The number of balls they are able to get in the container is the number of I ams they will say. God wants all of us to be fishers or men. Ms. Angela 2. Have a child pray. 3. Announcements and visitors a. Introduce any visitors. b. Birthdays 4. Rules 5. Review of Last Week s Lesson Ms. Christina 6. Offering Ms. Belinda a. Psalm 37:21 b. Object Lesson i. Encourage the children to put words with their offering don t just drop it in the bucket. ii. Have the ushers hold the buckets at the front of the class. iii. Once the offering is collected, have the ushers take it to the table. c. Remind the children: i. Begin filling out the offering envelope as soon as they get it. ii. Put your first and last name on the envelope. iii. Lick it and seal it completely so that none of your offering falls out. 7. Fishing for men is the heartbeat of Jesus. c. If we are truly following Jesus, we will become concerned about the souls of men. i. Jesus said that the harvest is great, but the laborers are few. ii. Immediately Jesus sent His disciples out to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and bring in the harvest. 10. Power Verse a. Acts 1:8, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses. b. Read it. c. Repeat it with jingle. d. 2 e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. The power verse words will be written on small paper fish cutouts. The children will sit in a circle and the fish will be scattered in the middle of them. The children will have to put a fish in a bucket using only a straw to receive their power verse word. Once all of the children have gone once, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. We are all fishers of men for God. Ms. Belinda 11. Restroom Break 12. 3 September 9, I am Pass the Fruit The children will sit in a circle and pass fruit around (2 apples, 2 oranges, 2 bananas) while music is playing. The helper will have a bag with index cards saying apples, oranges, or bananas and will pull a card and say what fruit is on it. The children that have the fruit that is called out will say an I am and then the game will be continued. Jesus is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth to be saved. Brother Terrick 2. The Precious Fruit of the Earth Ms. Christina a. James 5:7 b. When Jesus saw the multitudes scattered as sheep without a shepherd (lost), He was moved with compassion. c. God is not angry at the lost. His heart is full of mercy, so much mercy that He gave His only Son. d. Christ died for the ungodly. e. The Bible says Jesus is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth. i. What is the fruit of the earth? A. People, hearts. B. Lost people, sinners. ii. Notice that Jesus called the lost precious. iii. We need to see the lost the same way Jesus does if we want to win the lost. 9. Power Verse a. We will separate the children into three or four teams. We will have four 25-piece puzzles with the power verse written on it in creative ways. The children will work together to put the puzzle together. As we flow in unity, we will work together to witness to God s precious fruit of the earth. Ms. Fay 10. Restroom Break 11. 5 September 16, I am Coin Toss We will have buckets or boxes with fresh oil written on them. The children will have 20 seconds to toss as many coins in as they can. The number of coins they make in is the number of I ams they will say with three being the maximum. What Is This Power For? Ms. Christina a. Mark 16: b. Jesus told the disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. c. Then in Acts 1 (right after Mark 16), He told the disciples to wait in the city of Jerusalem. d. What were they waiting for? Holy Ghost power. e. One reason for the Holy Ghost is to empower us to be witnesses. f. The Holy Ghost power makes us come out of our shell and be bold. g. It also makes us do things we could not or would not do on our own. h. Apostle Peter is changed. i. Before Pentecost Peter denied the Lord three times. ii. After Pentecost Peter stood and preached to thousands. iii. The result was 3,000 people were saved. iv. Peter preached again in Acts 3, and 5,000 were saved. 9. Power Verse a. We will separate the children into three or four teams. We will have four paper planes made for the children and four hula hoops. The children will fly the plane through the hula hoop to receive their power verse. Once all of the children have gone once, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. Look at the Word as sweet. c. The Word goes out and achieves its goal of: i. leading people to Christ, ii. getting people saved, and iii. building people up. d. Worms are attractive to fish, they want to eat them up. e. What is attractive to people? f. What does the world go fishing for? g. What do believers go fishing for? h. We are to be true disciples of God and never grow weary in well doing or grow tired of winning souls for Christ. i. 7 September 23, I am Bible Trivia We will play the bible trivia card game in the classroom. Choose a child to answer, if they need help, they have to say an I am to give the question to the next person. Once a child answers, if they get it wrong, they also say an I am to give the question to the next person. It s important that we know the Word when we witness the Gospel to others. Ms. Fay 2. Once you are filled with the Spirit, an effective witness is unashamed, bold, and courageous. d. Just like Peter, after the upper room, I d say leading 3,000 people to Christ is a pretty effective witness. 9. Power Verse a. Once they complete it, they will receive two power verse words. Once all of the children have gone once, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. 9 September 30, I am Sentences We will have the start of a sentence written on note cards and the children must continue it, one word at a time. When a child does not continue the sentence, they will say an I am and we will start a new sentence. We all have a part to play in keeping our own fire burning. Ms. Belinda 2. Have a child pray. 3. Keep the Fire Burning Ms. Christina a. Romans 12:11 b. Just like you continual add firewood to a natural bonfire, we must continue to add to our spiritual fire to keep it burning strong. c. Dr. Kenneth Hagin said, I d rather have a wildfire than no fire at all. d. The fire that s in us is based on our relationship with God. e. That s what our faith is, and we must stir ourselves up. f. Smith Wigglesworth said, I don t ask Smith how he feels, I tell Smith how he feels. g. How do we keep our fire burning?: i. Fellowship with God (Mark 1:35) ii. Pray in tongues (Jude 1:20) iii. 10 e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. We will have a starting line and a turn-around line. Halfway between the lines we will place one egg carton (lid removed) for each team. We will place a bowl containing enough pennies for each player at the turn-around line. One player from each team will race to the bowl, pick up one penny, run to the egg carton, hold the penny waist high, and drop it into one of the egg carton cups. The child will receive a power verse word when they successfully drop the penny into the cup. Once all of the children have gone once, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. We will talk to the children about the steps we can take to keep our fire burning. c. We will compare it to keeping matches lit. d. We will have a cup of water nearby to put everything out. e. We will show how matches do not stay lit very long. f. A fire stick (the ones used to light fireworks), however, is always hot and lasts a very long time. g. It can be used to light many matches and spread fire. h. When we keep our fire burning, we can spread the fire of God to everyone we meet, see, or know. 12. Review Lesson 13.
