1 February 4, 2018 CHILDREN S CHURCH FEBRUARY 2018 LESSON PLAN 1. I am Penny Stack We will have a bunch of pennies. The children will have twenty seconds to stack fifteen pennies. They will say two I Ams if they are unable to stack fifteen pennies within the twenty seconds. Every believer must build themselves up. Ms. Fay 2. Have a child pray. 3. Announcements and visitors a. Introduce any visitors. b. Birthdays 4. Rules 5. Review of Last Week s Lesson Ms. Christina 6. Offering Ms. Fay a. 2 Corinthians 9:10 b. Object Lesson i. Encourage the children to put words with their offering don t just drop it in the bucket. ii. Have the ushers hold the buckets at the front of the class. iii. Once the offering is collected, have the ushers take it to the table. c. Remind the children: i. Begin filling out the offering envelope as soon as they get it. ii. Put your first and last name on the envelope. iii. Lick it and seal it completely so that none of your offering falls out. 7. Praise and Worship Ms. Nohemi a. One Praise b. One Worship 8. Communion Brother Terrick 9. Every Believer Needs to Be Baptized in the Holy Ghost Ms. Christina a. Matthew 3:11 b. John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Ghost and fire. c. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. d. All the Apostles were filled with the Holy Ghost. e. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate experience from salvation. (Acts 19:1-6) i. When you are born again, you receive a measure of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:11) ii. When you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, you are filled up to overflowing. 10. Power Verse a. Acts 2:4, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. b. Read it. c. Repeat it with jingle. d. Filled with the Spirit, we begin to speak. To charge us up so we can reach our peak. An

We will have four bags of popcorn kernels. We will color twenty-three colors in each bag orange. We will mix the orange kernels with the others in the bag. The children will have to find an orange kernel in order to retrieve a word. Once all of words are received, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. 3 February 11, I am Marshmallow We will have two bags of marshmallows for the two helpers. The helper will have ten seconds to try to make the five marshmallows in the child s mouth. The number of marshmallows they catch in their mouth is the number of I Ams they will say. When the people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and opened their mouths they spoke with tongues. In the book of Acts, whenever people were filled with the Holy Spirit, they spoke in tongues. (Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:6) c. Different things happen when the Holy Spirit comes (wind, fire, laughter, prophesying). But in the New Testament when someone was filled with the Holy Spirit they eventually spoke in tongues. d. The Holy Spirit will not make you speak in tongues. i. The Holy Spirit will put words in your heart. ii. You have to yield to the Holy Spirit and speak the words out of your mouth. 9. Power Verse a. Acts 2:4, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. b. Read it. c. Repeat it with jingle.
4 d. Filled with the Spirit, we begin to speak. To charge us up so we can reach our peak. An unknown tongue, known only to the Father. Led by the Spirit so we can live in honor. (Brother Misael) e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. Each child will be blindfolded and will eat a mini cupcake from a paper plate only using their mouths. When they finish, they will receive a word. Once everyone has gone, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. Icing on their mouth is evidence of eating as tongues is evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Ms. Belinda 10. Restroom Break 11. The number they make in the basket in thirty seconds is the number of I Ams they will say. The Holy Ghost is our helper and we accomplish many things with His help. Ms. Fay 2. Have a child pray. 3. The Holy Spirit Gives Us the Power We Need to Be Effective Witnesses/There Are Many Benefits of Praying in Tongues Brother Junior a. Acts 2:14-21 b. The Holy Ghost will take the chicken out of you. c. Peter received the Holy Ghost. i. Before Peter was filled with the Holy Ghost, he denied Jesus three times. ii. After Peter was filled with the Holy Ghost, he stood up in front of thousands of people and boldly preached. d. Praying in tongues also gives us other benefits: i. Reminds us of the Holy Spirit inside of us. ii. Builds up our spirit. (1 Corinthians 14:4) iii. Controls our tongue. (James 3:6-8) iv. Pray for the perfect will of God. (Romans 8:14-16) v. Helps us to intercede. (Romans 8:26-27) vi. Helps us worship God. (Acts 2:11) 9. Power Verse

We will separate the children into three or four teams. We will have numbers assigned to letters. The children will write out the power verse using the key/legend provided. 7 February 25, I am Cup Stack The children will have 30 seconds to stack 20 disposable cups in as many rows as they can. The number of rows they stack is the number of I Ams they will say, three being the maximum. Speaking in tongues builds up our spirit. Brother Misael 2. Have a child pray. 3. Don t Get in a Rut Ms. Christina a. People sometimes get in a rut with tongues. b. Much of our prayer life should be in English or our known tongue. c. Paul said he would pray in the spirit and he would pray with his understanding. d. Don t let your mind wander when praying in tongues. If you find your mind wandering, then pray in English more. e. When going forward for prayer don t automatically start praying in tongues. Wait for the Holy Spirit to come on you. 9. Power Verse a. Acts 2:4, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. b. Read it. c. Repeat it with jingle. d. Filled with the Spirit, we begin to speak. To charge us up so we can reach our peak. An unknown tongue, known only to the Father. Led by the Spirit so we can live in honor. (Brother Misael) e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. Each child will draw and exercise (5
8 push-ups, 10 jumping jacks, plank, etc.). The entire team has to do every exercise drawn. One exercise equals one power verse word received. Once all of the power verse words are received, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. We will have to push through things to stay full of the Spirit. Brother Misael 10.
