1 CHILDREN S CHURCH APRIL 2018 LESSON PLAN April 1, I am Joyful Bean Bag Toss We will have two large smiley faces with numbers on them. The children will toss the bean bag across the floor onto the printed smiley face. The number it lands on is the number of I ams they will say. The smiley face represents the joy of the Lord. Ms. Fay 2. Have a child pray. 3. Announcements and visitors a. Introduce any visitors. b. Birthdays 4. Rules 5. Review of Last Week s Lesson Ms. Christina 6. Offering Ms. Fay a. Exodus 35:5 b. Object Lesson i. Encourage the children to put words with their offering don t just drop it in the bucket. ii. Have the ushers hold the buckets at the front of the class. iii. Once the offering is collected, have the ushers take it to the table. c. Remind the children: i. Begin filling out the offering envelope as soon as they get it. ii. Put your first and last name on the envelope. iii. Lick it and seal it completely so that none of your offering falls out. 7. Praise and Worship Ms. Nohemi a. One Praise b. One Worship 8. 2 e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. We will have four sets of dominoes with each power verse word taped on them. The children will be given a domino and they will stand up the dominoes in order. Once all of the dominoes are in power verse order, they can knock down the first domino to show a domino effect. 3 April 8, I am Starburst Stack The children will have 20 seconds to stack as many starbursts as they can while only using one hand (the other hand must be kept behind their back). The number of starbursts they stack is the number of I ams they will say with a maximum of three. We want our praise to be heard high in the heavens, so we give the Lord a shout of praise. When you shout unto the Lord there is freedom. It breaks that heavy yoke. e. When Joshua and the children of Israel shouted, it brought down the walls of the enemy. This had to be the Holy Ghost. Shouting alone could not do it. f. When we shout to the Lord, it brings down the walls of the enemy in our life. 9. Power Verse a. 4 e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. The children will receive a power verse word after they shout praise to the Lord as they kick a soccer ball through noodles. Once all of the children have gone or all of the words are received, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. No matter what we are doing, we can shout praises to God as the Holy Spirit leads us to. Ms. Belinda 10. Restroom Break 11. Shouting Object Lesson Brother Misael and Brother José a. The Walls Came Tumbling Down from the curriculum adding a make shift wall with the children attempting to knock it down only by shouting. 12. Altar Call Salvation/Healing/Declaration 13. 5 April 15, I am Dance Freeze We will play music and the children will dance while the music is playing. When the music stops, they have to freeze in whatever position they are dancing in. If a child does not freeze, they will have to say an I am. When the Spirit of the Lord moves us to dance, we will not freeze up and hold back but enter in and dance. Ms. Fay 2. Have a child pray. 3. Dancing Ms. Christina a. 2 Samuel 6:14-16 b. Dancing is another manifestation of the Holy Ghost. c. Dancing in the Spirit is not necessarily dancing to music. You don t need music to dance in the Spirit. d. When you dance in the Spirit, you get excited because the Holy Ghost is present and the anointing gets in your feet. e. You don t have to take lessons to dance in the Spirit, you just dance when the Holy Ghost is moving that way. f. Don t wait until you feel something, just start dancing when the Holy Ghost is moving that way. If you miss it, catch the next wave. g. David got excited when the ark was brought back to Jerusalem. The presence of God was in the Ark of the Covenant. David loved God so much and was so happy that the Ark was arriving, that he danced and shouted. 9. Power Verse a. We will hide the power verse words written on different colors of paper for the different teams throughout the room. We will play and pause music. When the music is playing, the children must freeze. When the music is off, the children must look for their words. Once all of the words are found, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. 7 April 22, I am Sprint We will have the children race one another by running to a line, touching it, and then running back. The child who wins will say an I am. Sometimes we get so excited about God, our salvation, His Word, etc. that the Holy Ghost moves us to run. Brother Misael 2. Have a child pray. 3. Announcements and Visitors a. They may have to sprint, jog, run backwards, do high knees, etc. Once all of the children have gone or all of the
8 words are received, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. There are different ways to run just like there are different ways the spirit moves and running is one of them. 9 April 29, I am Coin Finder We will have a lot of pennies and a few nickels and dimes mixed into a bowl of rice (uncooked). The children will have 15 seconds to find as many coins as they can. Once their 15 seconds is up, they will count the coins and read the specific number of I Am that their coins added up to. If the number is not on the sheet, they will say two I ams using each digit (63 cents = #6 and #3). We must do our part to flow with the Spirit. Brother Terrick 2. Have a child pray. 3. Yielding to the Spirit at Home Brother Junior a. Romans 8:14 b. Flowing with the Spirit isn t something only to be done at church. c. This is something we can live everywhere we go, every day of our lives. d. We are not only the sons and daughters of God on church days. e. There are things we can do to be better at flowing with the Spirit in our lives. a. Pray in tongues. b. Practice obeying the small leadings of the Holy Spirit. c. Be quick to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. f. Flowing with the Spirit is not done out of the head. g. Flowing with the Spirit is just a knowing and an urge you have to do something specific. h. If we can do this every day of our lives, we will have absolutely no problem flowing with the Spirit at church. 9. Power Verse a. Each child will have to draw a hindrance stick to determine what they will have to do while running around the course with a hardboiled egg on a spoon. They may have to wear oven mitts, hop on one leg the entire time, walk three legged with a partner, etc. Once all of the children have gone or all of the words are received, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. Following the leading of the Spirit won t always be easy, but you will always move forward. Ms. Nohemi 10. Restroom Break 11. Yielding to the Spirit at Home Object Lesson Brother Terrick and Brother José a. Follow the Leader type skit. b. Two people, one of which is playing Heart. c. Include dialogue explaining: i. How to follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit. ii. Examples of obeying the Holy Spirit, even when it s not convenient. iii. Moving with the Holy Spirit, even when our feelings don t want to. 12.
