12 GRAND REPRESENTATIVES This year I only recommended one Sir Knight to serve as the Grand Representative 0 a Grand Commandery near the Grand Commandery of Delaware New Jersey William J.Littel I also approved the recommendation of one Sir Knight to serve as the Grand Representative of Delaware near his Grand Commandery: Minnesota Kenneth W.Carroll CONDmON OF TIIE RITE As I traveled throughout the State this year I observed a positive attitude in our Commanderies. in my official visits and inspection I stressed the need for new members and they have strived to achieve this, I also spoke of the need for more participation in the Eye Foundation and the Holy Land Pilgrimage and I feel my words were not in vain. Masonic Unity seems to be the By-word of today and we being the small State that we are, Unity was in our vocabulary before it became popular. With the two York Rite Planning Councils the Chapters, Councils and Commanderies work as one and the scheduling of the Degrees and Orders are arranged to the best advantage of all those concerned. We are still the new kid an the block and we still have improvements to make and obstacles to overcome but with the talented leadership I see corning forward I see progress for the future of the Rite. CONCLUSION As my year is drawing to conclusion and our V.E. Deputy Grand Commander, Charles Barkins assumes the mantle of authority, I am confident he will endeavor to lead this Grand Commandery to a higher level. It has been a pleasure for me to serve as your Grand Commander this past year and I look back with fond memories. Though I have not achieved all I set out to do I can honestly say I did my level best. I feel that at this time I must thank our first Grand Commander Henry G. Law for all his advise and guidance and although he has, for personal reasons, decided to give up his position as Grand Recorder/Treasurer, this Grand Commandery is deeply indebted to him. He has been my confidant and adviser and I thank him for our deep personal friendship which shall continue. I also must thank all of the Grand Officers and Sir Knights for their support during the year and at this Conclave. Fraternally submitted C. Granville McVey Grand Commander 10

14 REPORT OF THE GRAND RECORDER In this, my last report as your Grand Recorder, I am able to report good news on the financial side, wherein an increase was experienced. Unfortunately, on the membership side, a loss must be reported. As I end my active involvement in this body, I must state I have been pleased to have had your friendship and cooperation. Nonetheless, my Savior has stated that no man can serve two masters and that he who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father. It has been Lain on my heart that I must therefore withdraw from my former activities and utilize my time and talents in serving the LORD in whatever way I am able. I would wish that those who lead this Grand Commandery in the future might experience such success as they may desire, and that they might find the comfort and peace in the Lord. 18 REPORT nnusprudence OF THE CO~E Report of Jurisprudence - Grand Commandery March 10, 1995 Report on The Address of the Right Eminent Grand Commander To The Right Eminent Grand Commandery Session: of Knights Templar of Delaware Now in This Jurisprudence Committee is thrilled to have the pleasure to review the Report of our fourth Right Eminent Grand Commander that has so eloquently been presented to you this afternoon. Right Eminent Grand Commander McVey has traveled over many paths to reach this distinguished position and we find that his travels this year, on our behalf, continue to be richly rewarding to us. His serve ce, in this rather trying year for Chivalric Masonry, nay for all the York Rite Bodies of Delaware, has once again been exemplary and he has stepped into the breach with his mythical sword drawn to lead us ever upward, ever forward through these periods of adversity. This Grand Commandery, Right Eminent Sir, and all the York Rite Bodies of Delaware are eternally indebted to you. We find the dispensations offered by our Grand Commander this past year on our behalf, entirely within the power and prerogatives incumbent upon his office. We thus, with no reservations, recommend their approval. On behalf of this Grand Commandery, we express our sincere appreciation to our Right Eminent for welcoming Sir Knights from our sister jurisdictions to be our Grand Representatives near their Grand Commandery. We would also like to commend our Grand Commander for entrusting to the care of our Sir Knights the chivalric honor and dignity of representing a sister jurisdiction within this Grand Commandery. We are confident that these duly recognized Sir Knights will attend to these knightly duties with great dignity reflective of the Christian values they hold so dear. Right Eminent Grand Commander McVey has been extremely attentive to the affairs of this Grand Commandery both within and without this Grand Jurisdiction. His visitations, and that of his staff, to the constituted Commandery within this Grand Jurisdiction have been conducted with all the dignity worthy of those magnificent occasions. We also find within these visitations, an increasing degree of confidence on the part of the Constituted Cornmanderies and the Grand Commandery officers. We extend to the Grand Commander and the officers of each of these Commanderies our thanks and sincere appreciation for jobs well done. Our Right Eminent has also been extremely involved in the affairs of each of these bodies whenever 'they were in session and his name can be found in the annals of these bodies not only as a present Sir Knight but also as an active participant. With the ardent passion, that so characterizes all of his endeavors, Right Eminent Grand Commander McVey has attended to the opportunities to travel in foreign Masonic Countries with great love, devotion and caring. All of the Grand Commanderies within the Northeast Department have been graced by his presence. A performance on his part, which no prior Grand Commander of this jurisdiction has 16

19 been able to achieve and we commend you for that accomplishment. We. are confident that you and this Grand Commandery are much richer for these endeavors. We also truly expect that all those sister jurisdictions have been equally richly rewarded by your presence. The Right Eminent Grand Commander finds the legislative activities of this Grand Commandery in acceptable shape and thus offers no recommendation for the official action on this body today. We thank Right Eminent Grand Commander McVey for this conclusion and acknowledge, with him, that this young bright star of York Rite Masonry in Delaware stills needs to physically grow its stature and strength and, at least at this time in its history, be less concerned by the encumbrances of further legislature. ' Our Right Eminent is a Builder in all the connotations of the word from both a Masonic and non-masonic perspective. we have thoroughly enjoyed his and Margaret's continued contribution to Masonry and we look forward to enjoying their continued service for many years to come. As Jurisprudence reflects on where Right Eminent Grand Commander can, in the future, best serve Chivalric Masonry we can answer with a unanimous resounding voice - we wait with great pleasure and anticipation your joining the ranks of active Past Grand Commanders. Fraternally submitted, Donald D. Thomas, P.G.C. Chairman REPORT OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE The Finance Committee of this Grand Commandery has examined the records and accounts of the Grand Treasurer-Recorder and has found them to be in proper order. 22 L I ADDRESS BY R.E. CHARLES W. BARKINS I want to thank all those who made it possible for me to become Grand Commander and I will do my best to live up to your expectations. To all the Red Cords present a special thanks for taking the time to be with us. I look forward to traveling with you as often as possible. This year I will stress three things, Attendance, Membership and Participation. Attendance because it is a vital part of every Commandery, Membership because without new members our Commanderies will wither and Participation in all commandery and Grand Encampment functions, the Easter Sunrise Service, the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and the Holy Land Pilgrimage. I ask your support and by working together we will be able to prosper and grow. Fraternally Charles W.
