His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1 God s love can be traced back to the beginning, his love first put on display with his divine act of creation. It didn t end there. History reveals that the God of creation is also a God of redemption. He is the One who struck down the firstborn of Egypt...divided the Red Sea asunder...led his people through the desert...gave their land as an inheritance. The Lord rescued his chosen people from their enemies, sustaining them in the wilderness and bringing them to the land of Canaan. The Lord fulfilled his promise to send a Savior, and Jesus redeemed us by sacrificing his life on the cross. Jesus rescued us from our sins because he loves us, so that we might live with him forever. The Holy Spirit created faith in Jesus in our hearts, moving into our lives with his love and the Spirit urges us to love as we ve been loved, not only those who love us back, but those who annoy us or even wish to destroy us. He teaches us to love without condition or repayment. He teaches us that real love is patient and kind; devoid of envy, boasting and pride; refuses to be rude, self-seeking and easily angered; keeps no record of wrongs; declines to delight in evil but rejoices with the truth; always protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres; and never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). The Spirit empowers us to love, to express our love, by providing us the strength to love God s way, strength to overcome our selfish unwillingness to love. Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:1-2).

3 From the Pastor February - Epiphany Bonus David S. Wall, Interim Pastor Most of the time, it is difficult to write the newsletter article, but I am excited to write this February article, because then I know we have completed a western Minnesota January with all the challenges that go along with that. Of course, February and, March for that matter, can be very snow-filled, cold months as well. So, I have really good news for all of us. We have nearly a month longer season of Epiphany this year than last year's Epiphany Season. It started on January 6 where we celebrated the wise men recognizing the Christ Child in Bethlehem. One of the Sundays when we cancelled church in January, I heard a preacher in Stillwater challenging all of us for the month of January and into February that we are God's children deserving of the love shown to us by Christ empowering us to change the world. As we live our lives in faith, we have five congregations loved by God, deserving of the love shown to us by Christ. I have pondered this and of course looked at it through eyes that say we are not "deserving" and I understand that view. However, we are children of God and the love we receive from God in Christ Jesus empowers us to change the world. We change the world through sharing the love of Christ with the world. So, take each of these extra days of Epiphany we at Healing Waters Parish have this year to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the world. The Christ who was baptized by John now brings hope and healing to a world who needs to hear that "we are children of God, deserving of Christ's love and able in Christ to change the world."
